The film based on Blizzard’s World of Warcraft will begin shooting in the first quarter of 2014, producer Charles Roven told SlashFilm. “We’re moving forward; obviously Legendary [Pictures] is making that film and I’m having a great time with [director Duncan Jones],” he said.

The long-in-development WoW movie hasn’t exactly had a smooth pre-production. Sam Raimi was originally signed on to direct, with a script from Saving Private Ryan writer Robert Rodat. The collaboration ended in summer 2012 when Raimi left abruptly. The director then revealed in an interview earlier this year that creative differences are what led to the split.

There’s still no concrete release plan nailed down on the adaptation’s release date, and nothing is known about the story from Charles Leavitt that Jones is currently in re-writes on. If production goes as planned with an early 2014 start, a 2015 release is possible.
