XCOM returns with a new look and a new trailer

XCOM is one of those games that many people played as a kid and carried fond memories of it with them into their adulthood. But fond memories don’t explode well, so the upcoming XCOM not only reboots the series with a fresh new story to introduce it to a new audience, it also changes the gameplay from a turn-based strategy to a first-person shooter.

With E3 looming, it is not surprising to see a trailer for XCOM even though it isn’t due out until next year. It would be surprising if there wasn’t a trailer for the game. So far details on the plot have been limited. You are an FBI agent hunting down aliens that want to destroy us. But what more plot do you really need? See alien, shoot it with a big gun. Sounds about right.

The game was originally announced at last year’s E3, so expect for it to come out swinging this year and have a major presence at the convention. Check back with us next week for more details.

XCOM is due out on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 on March 6, 2012.

The best E3 2019 trailers
From Cyberpunk 2077 to Watch Dogs Legion, these are the best trailers of E3 2019
Cyberpunk 2077 Keanu Reeves release date 2020

E3 2019 is underway, and as is the case every year, the event has been filled with fantastic game trailers showing off the best of what the big publishers have to offer. Some of these trailers feature only pre-rendered cinematics that give us a look into a game’s tone and story, while others show actual, honest-to-goodness gameplay. Both have a role, and several trailers shown during E3 2019 have us particularly excited. These are the best E3 2019 trailers. We will continue to update with new trailers as more publishers finish their conferences.
Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 — Official E3 2019 Cinematic Trailer

Last year’s E3 presentation for Cyberpunk 2077 got us pumped for the science-fiction RPG from CD Projekt Red, but the trailer shown at the Xbox E3 conference this year was even better. It was a cinematic rather than gameplay demonstration, showing off the aftermath of a heist that leaves protagonist V on the brink of death. It was flashy, informative, and polished, but it was who appeared in the final moments that made it special: Keanu Reeves! The actor will have a supporting role in the game, and he even made a live appearance on stage to celebrate the news. It was far better than seeing him sadly eating a sandwich on a bench.

All Baobab Tree locations in Tales of Kenzera
Zau fights a dragon in Tales of Kenzera: Zau.

While it wasn't marketed as being a particularly punishing game, Tales of Kenzera: Zau is by no means easy. You will have plenty of environmental challenges that can instantly sap your life, and the enemies you face -- especially the bosses -- are no slouches. When you first begin, it will only take a couple of bad hits to send Zau to the land of the dead himself. Alongside the Trinkets you can unlock through hidden challenges around the map, there are also Baobab Trees where Zau can stop to reflect on his journey thus far, have a short dialogue with Kalunga, and get a small addition to his health bar. Like everything in the game, these trees aren't prohibitively hidden, but you could easily pass one by and have no idea where it was when trying to backtrack. These are all the Baobab Tree locations so you can max out your health bar.
All Baobab Tree locations
There are six Baobab Trees to find in Tales of Kenzera: Zau and each adds a small segment of health to your total. When you collect them all, you will roughly double your HP bar. Here are each of their locations in the rough order you should naturally find them in. Most can be picked up on your first time through that area.
Ikakaramba

This one is very hard to miss as it is directly on your critical path. If you do, you can fast travel to the nearby campfire to grab it.

All Fallout games, ranked
The courier in his nuclear gear and holding his gun in Fallout: New Vegas key art.

Who would've thought the post-apocalypse could be such a fun time? The Fallout franchise has taken the idea of a Mad Max-like future and not only made it into a wildly popular game franchise but also a hit TV series. The core franchise has been around since the late '90s, and yet we've had only a handful of mainline entries in the series since it was revived by Bethesda with Fallout 3. With Starfield in the rearview mirror and the next Elder Scrolls title currently being the dev team's focus, it could be close to another decade before we can set foot in the wasteland ourselves once again. What better time, then, to look back at the franchise and rank all the games from best to worst?
