It will play in 4K if available (&quot;Super HD&quot; content). Otherwise, 1080p.

Don&#39;t forget to go into the display settings and change it to 4k, it defaults to 1080P after updates.  I have a samsung js8500 and once I turned on HDR for hdmi 4 in my tv, this box plays netflix original titles in 4k HDR flawlessly.  I&#39;m on 5Ghz band wifi with 75Mb internet, your results may vary.

Yes it plays Netflix in 1080 HD just fine.  I don&#39;t have a 4K TV, so I can&#39;t say about that.

The problem is ... this unit does not have ethernet cable port.... wireless only.. 

I have no idea why they did a 4K media player without possibility to connect it  by the internet cable...  Really - really sad....

Yes, it supports both HD and 4K well-enough to impress the most frugal testers/reviewers. If you plan to view primarily 4K video, be aware of a few things. One reviewer did point out that he did experience a rare amount of lag with 10-bit streams of 4K video, but never with 8-bit streams. Also, keep in mind that your network and source will have to be up to the task for 4K video. The skinny is that if you have a roadblock to 4K video, the Xiaomi Mi will not be it. Typically, to stream 4K video, you will need a wireless router supporting 802.11ac and a fair amount of available bandwidth from your internet service provider. An alternative to the wireless requirement is a direct wired connection between the router and the Mi's USB port using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, such as the one at https://xiaomi-mi.com/accessories-for-tv/xiaomi-ethernet-network-adapter-usb-rj45/. I'm thinking that the router and modem may also need to support 1Gbps speeds, but cannot verify since I no longer have the slower/100Mbps versions.

If you have a 4k tv this is not the box for you (having trouble paying 4k in Netflix). If you have 1080 this box works just fine.

It does not have a good browser. I tried the only one in the play store and is not worth it to download.  In conclusion there are any browser compatible with this box jet.

No, it does not.  It has HDMI output only.  This box will not connect via RCA or composite video jacks.

Unfortunately, your question is too vague to give you a certain answer. But, I'll try. If you are asking if it provides analog (non-digital) connections, such as when using composite RCA (yellow) or s-video connectors, the answer is YES. But, you will need an adapter for the single 3.5mm audio/video jack. The official adapter is shown at https://xiaomi-mi.com/accessories-for-tv/xgimi-av-adapter-cable/. But, any standard 3.5mm a/v adapter will likely work, especially if you prefer s-video.

It was the year 1999, and while most people were picking up the Y2K Protection CD from the checkout display at CompUSA I was dreaming. My dreams were the same every day and were centered around my realization that if I could connect my PC to my TV, I could watch from the comfort of my couch.

The time was right for building this kind of connectivity. New file sharing services were being launched by developers at a rapid pace and I was enjoying the bandwidth provided by my newly installed Roadrunner connection. I had just jumped from 56k dialup to Time Warners 2Mb down/128k up cable speeds (terribly slow by today's standards) and I was quickly starting to build a good size library of audio and video files. Now, how to connect to, and present them in a user friendly format on my TV was the challenge.

There was a long list of software, hardware, networks, tuner cards, graphis cards, STB's, wiring, etc. etc. If the software was written to organize and playback media files, I've installed it. If the device was built to bridge the connection from PC to TV, I've connected it. From Gateway Connected DVD players to Snapstream Beyond TV and Beyond Media, from the PrismQ media player to others that I can hardly remember trying out, I've been through many in my quest to live my dream.

Fast forward 15 years and there's now a device that I was able to connect, set up, and watch a movie on in 30 minutes. The Mi Box is the most recent addition to my living room and after 3 days of aggressive use and customization, this device is a real contender to replace my full blown Windows based HTPC.

The Mi Box is running Android TV and stands out as a capable, lean back device that runs Kodi seamlessly and presents Netflix and YouTube in real, remote friendly formats. If you've tried any of the Android boxes that are out there (a lot of them, everywhere) and been frustrated by trying to use Netflix and YouTube with a remote then this Android TV box is the solution. Because the 'generic' Android boxes are running what amounts to a tablet version of Android, the apps are designed for a touchscreen and do not work well when trying to use a remote. You may be getting by with an air mouse or a mini lean back keyboard touchpad, but you don't need to suffer any more. The versions of these apps  that are designed for Android TV are designed to be used with a remote and are the the final solution to what forced me to return the last device I tried (Q Box) to Amazon. Having a TRUE Android TV box makes the difference and I'm now close to saying "Yes" to the Mi Box and adding them throughout my house. 

The long road I've travelled as I've watched the maturation of the connected set top box has brought me to where I am today. I can recommend the Mi Box whole heartedly and know that it will fit into many homes just as well as it has fit into mine. If you're a casual user that is simply looking for Netflix and YouTube you will be up and running in minutes. If you're a more advanced user and are planning to install Kodi from the Play Store you'll be up and running in minutes. If you're a super user and want to customize your experience, you'll be able to do that too because Android TV can be manipulated and customized just as easily as we've come to know and love on our other Android devices.

For $69 you get a well designed, wifi enabled, HDMI connectable, remote controlled device that can be setup as simply or as complex as you need.

I've had no problems other than needing to reboot the device once when the remote stopped responding. The device was still responding to keyboard commands from the bluetooth keyboard that I added (BT dongle was installed in the devices USB port), and after a reboot the remote was working again. There's a power adapter that provides the power for the Mi, and network connectivity comes from the built in WiFi (there is NO wired ethernet port). The Mi is designed and packaged well and includes an HDMI cable for connecting to the TV and even a pair of AAA batteries are included for the slim, simplistic remote. The devices search function can be accessed by a single click of the search button on the remote control and will bring up a voice search on the screen. Say "netflix" and voila - the Netflix app is launched. Say "Longmire" and the results will show my local media files that are indexed in Kodi along side the episodes that can be viewed in Netflix. If the mic is having a hard time hearing your search phrase you have the option of typing your search request. This voice search was an unexpected feature that I was surprised to see included. This does show the maturity of this device and my hope is that Google continues to develop Android TV and makes it attractive to developers to design their apps to run on this platform.

The maturity of the Android TV box

I am really enjoying my Mi Box! I have been streaming a lot of HD videos and they look great. The the wifi works good and the Bluetooth voice remote works flawlessly. It's nice not having to aim the remote at the box. I am pleased to finally have an Android box that has reliable OTA updates. The box automatically checks for updates on a regular basis. Just go into the settings and select "About" and then select "System Update" to do a manual check for updates. I did that they day I received the box and there was an update available. 
If your new to Android TV, keep in mind you will not have access to all the apps in Google Play. Android TV has a limited amount of apps that are designed to work with Android TV. However, you can sideload any app easily. In my opinion, the best launcher for your side loaded apps is "HALauncher" that can be installed via Google Play. I use the browser within ES File Explorer to download APKs to the box. I only sideloaded a couple apps because most of the apps I want can be installed directly from Google Play.

Excellent Android TV box!

I LOVE this little box. I cut the cord 2 years ago. I have an HD antenna and I own 3 Roku's and 2 NVida Shield Pro's. I run the KODI app on the Shield's and now the little Mi box. Honestly, IMO there is ZERO difference in the actual streaming and viewing between the Mi and Shield. The remotes are different because Shield has a gaming remote. I prefer the Mi remote when watching TV. Of course, if you're going to be gaming, get the Shield. If you just want to run apps and watch some TV save yourself $230 and get the the Mi!

Excellent for Android TV

I owned 3 Nexus Players because I stream all of my entertainment across three rooms, I've always loved the operating system of the Nexus Player. When Google stopped making them I was very disappointed in other streaming boxes with thier own skin on top of the Android OS, very clunky and would often freeze. I found the Mi Box and replaced all of my Nexus Players with them. It has the processing power that I need to stream movies etc and has a USB port so I can use peripherals and the smooth OS of stock Andriod tv. I love it!

Quick easy set up. Plays seamlessly and very smooth menu, have not installed Kodi yet but have played with what it comes with the the casting. Works nice and smoothly. Better layout and system than the firestick which we have also tried. Small bundle that's VERY easy to move around from room to room or travel. If you want to play games get a Shield. If you simply want for media get this.

Perfect if you don't need games

I felt like someone removed the weight off my shoulders when I cancelled my cable service for $250 per month.  I replaced it with a high speed internet access package for $69 per month (235 mb/sec), a Sling TV subscription for $40 per month for all the channels, and a one time cost of $70 for each Mi Box.

I love it!

I bought three Mi Boxes for my three TVs and love the fact I can watch on my TV, my phone, and my computer so long as only three are active at any one time (Sling TV restriction not a MiBox restriction).

My only complaints are minor and they have nothing to do with the MI Box.  Instead they are about the Sling TV app: I wish they would let you easily flip back and forth between two or more channels; and the Sling TV app often doesn't restart so I have to go into settings/apps/sling tv and force stop the app.

A wonderful alternative to cable!
