I'd say this book has great potential as a classic, Hawthorne draws beautiful pictures of events and scenery but for my taste the story progression is mind dulling slow.

This book is terrible. The guy lived in the 1800's, but wrote in Middle English. What a douchebag! I can't believe we have to read this in high school. It has no releviance to our lives.

It is about forbidden love, that was considered a cardinal sin. Emotional and moral turmoil . Of the heart a beautiful yet depressing tale. Some might say controversial. For its time I loved it.
