Big fan of this vacuum. I bought a Eureka RapidClean Step which I thought was horrible...That one had an absolutely worthless dust bin with a cloth filer that clogged up with dust the minute you turned it on. It also left a good inch of uncleaned surface. This is night and day. The power is fantastic, it really has strong suction and cleans very well. For use on stairs, it can't be beat. I use the pet brush with the mini beater bar and it's exactly what I needed to vacuum my carpeted stairs. The unit is also very solidly built. Some reviews said it's heavy, but what do you expect from a handheld vac with a strong motor? It's certainly not heavy, no more than any other hand vac. I found that the handle is well designed and it's easy to wield and maneuver. The dustbin on this is clean and simple. No stupid filter inside the bin, the filters are all located in their own cavities which can be easily accessed for cleaning. The bin opens up and dumps the dust over a garbage can with no spillage.
The hose is a nice addition, although for most tasks I use it for it is not needed. I just stick the tool directly onto the nozzle on the motor and it provides more stability when vacuuming stairs or a floor. I use the hose when I'm trying to get into crevices behind my fridge or other hard to reach areas. It's plenty flexible and can stretch out quite a bit. This comes with all the attachments you could need. I bought it because my main vac is a Shark Powerhead (awesome vacuum by the way) and it doesn't have any attachments. Needed something for my stairs and for quick clean ups. The cord is also plenty long for anything I would use it for. There is no cord management piece though, you just wrap it around the motor when you're done. Doesn't look as nice that way but that just doesn't matter to me. The noise is pretty standard, it was actually quieter than the Eureka so with that in mind I'd say the noise level is ideal for a vacuum. They're loud, that just how it is.
It really is worth the money. I tried to save a few bucks buying the Eureka, and I never should have wasted my time. I've owned two other Shark vacuums and they're fantastic so I should have just stuck with Shark from the beginning. Honestly it's not the most expensive option anyway...I researched quite a bit and found others that were 2x or 3x the price, which after having owned this I'd say is unnecessary. I love it!

Can be easily upgraded to a SOLID FIVE-STAR product!
This is a solid, well-made vacuum, and I can foresee using it a lot. Out of the box, however, it is limited in its versatility. With two very SIMPLE, inexpensive modifications, though, it can be made into much more powerful, ergonomic tool having a wide range of uses.Modification #1) Conversion Adapter from 1-3/8" to 1-1/4". I already had a number of standard vacuum cleaner attachments that I wanted to be able to use with the Shark Rocket, including rigid extension tubes, brush with long, soft, flexible bristles, and wide floor cleaning attachment, but they wouldn't fit. My current attachments are (nominally) 1-1/4" size. To be able to use them, I purchased an inexpensive adapter on Amazon, manufactured by EZ SPARES, that did the job. ($6.29).Modification #2) Add a shoulder strap. A number of reviews talk about the weight of the unit being a bit heavy... but that's because it's solid and well made, which is a good thing! But you can easily transfer the weight from your arm to your shoulder by adding a shoulder strap. To do this, I attached a sturdy nylon strap tie around the hand-hold, leaving enough room to attach the clips from a shoulder strap. (See photo) For a shoulder strap, I just re-purposed a strap from a travel duffel. You could use one from an old computer bag. The strap tie slightly obstructs access to the ON/OFF switch, but it's really NOT a problem. Still very easy to turn on and off. And even with a single attachment point, the unit stays fairly well balanced.I can hold the unit now under my right arm, with the strap across to my left shoulder. (See photo). I attached the flexible tube that came with the Shark Rocket, then the conversion adapter, then whatever else I want. (Note the powered "TruePet" motorized brush must be attached directly to the unit, NOT on an extension). I've attached two photos... one showing a single extension tube plus long-bristle brush, that I can use to clean items on shelves, or merely to extend my reach a bit. Using two rigid tubes, I can clean the hardwood floor while standing upright (!) using an attachment from an old vacuum cleaner. (Sorry for the poor quality photos. Typical "camera phone" results.)With these modifications, the Shark Rocket is now pretty much perfect. I mean REALLY! Solid FIVE STARS. I was fed up with battery rechargeable products that were simply under-powered, and don't run for very long. The electric motor on the Shark Rocket is plenty powerful to move lots of air. (Which reminds me, you'll probably want to get an extension cord to permanently use with this unit, as the existing cord (15-feet) is a bit short for indoor household use.)(And, by the way, it is the speed and volume of moving air that picks up dust and debris and carries it into the dust cup. You can't pick up ANYTHING with a vacuum. You need rushing air to do that. This is one of the great misunderstandings of science in the popular domain. In order to pick up dirt, what you want is a fast, high volume air flow to pick up debris; and the Shark Rocket provides it!I look forward to many uses for this, and am happy with my purchase. (I would have appreciated better customer support from Shark when I called to ask what size converter I needed Amazon Product Support was not able to answer this either, but I was able to figure it out on my own eventually. I realize the company has conflicting concerns in this regard, but IF a customer calls to SPECIFICALLY ASK this question, it would be nice for them to provide the answer.)
