I've owned so many watches and smart bands/fitness bands, I can definitely give a detailed idea of what makes the Pebble watches shine vs the competition. Let me get this out of the way...if battery life is important and you don't want to be charging every day or two, this is your watch. Other watches have good battery life (like the Martian Notifier I owned), but they don't have near the functions/features/capabilities of this watch. This is such a joy to own because it "just works" and you aren't always charging it. I've never had a notification from email/text/phone call not come through in the few weeks that I've owned it. I love Android phones and I've played with Android Wear watches, but I'm astonished at how well the Pebble OS just does everything I need it without feeling like a smart phone on my arm. Other people have said it, but this watch truly is an extension of your phone.I was in the camp that saw smart watches as a useless product. But as a Realtor, I get a ton of calls and notifications all day. I found the vibration on my Note 4 wasn't strong enough in my pocket and I would always miss calls. Plus, I'm pulling out my phone for every buzz I do feel. This watch has completely changed my life. I probably reach for my phone 75% less because I can dismiss notifications straight from the watch. I can also shoot back a text or email directly from the watch through voice dictation. The accuracy of the voice text is amazing. 99% of the time, it perfectly picks up what I say. It seems better than Google Now or Dragon Dictation on my phone. Super impressed. Let's move on to the pros and cons list.PROS:Battery Life - Unparalleled for what the watch actually does. I get a TON of notifications. I could probably get 4 days. Most people would get almost a week.Comfort - The watch band is the most comfortable of any smart watch I owned. I eventually opted to go with a dressier mesh band because of my daily attire, but if the silicone black band is what you like, this is the most comfortable. Any 22mm band works, which is really nice for most of these watches.Size - I have average size lower arms, and this watch is a great medium size. It would be fine for a male or female. If you love huge face watches, you might find this a TAD small.Buttons - I like the butttons. Some people may find this to be a con, but I don't. Buttons always work. Touch screen sometimes doesn't. These screens are pretty small for a touch screen too. I think the buttons are faster.Pebble Health - They are constantly updating it to make it better and closer to a fitness app. Right now, it still lacks some functionality like adding workouts. Apparently it's coming soon, but the problem is the calorie count will never reflect any type of weighlifting or HIIT style workout because it can't be manually added on the watch or in the app. It's not like anybody should be taking these watch's calorie burn estimates as truthful anyway, but not being able to account for workouts makes it even more off. The pedometer function of the Pebble Time is good. It tends to stay on the lower side for step count compared to others I've worn at the same time (MS Band 2, Garmin Vivosmart HR, Zenwatch 2, Fitbit Blaze). The Pebble Time honestly seemed more accurate than almost any other one, but this is still a notification watch first and foremost.CONS:Screen (compared to Android Wear/Apple Watch) - The reason you get that battery life is because of the very low color E-Paper screen. It's sorta monochrome looking..sorta dull. It's really one of those things you have to wear for a few days to see if it bothers you. We are so used to amazing LCD screens on all our devices, the Pebble Time just seems...underwhelming. To me, the screen helps make it feel like an accessory or extension of the phone compared to just another smaller phone on my arm. The first few hours were weird, but I quickly learned to appreciate it. It's also visible in the sun compared to normal LCD watches too.Bezel - I don't know why the bezel needs to be so big on these watches. They could have made the screen much bigger in the same size. This is a problem with a lot of smartwatches. I just don't get it. Wasted space.Looks - It's an average looking watch at best. It sorta looks like a toy, depending on the band. You could pull it off in a professional environment, especially with a mesh or link band. But..it looks much more at home in the gym. The just announced Pebble Time 2 is all steel and should be a nicer looking watch. However that won't be out until almost Christmas '16 and it will cost double what this Pebble Time is going for in May.Conclusion: Overall, I love this watch. The positives far outweigh the negatives. Pebble is always working on updates and this watch will get updated with the new OS that will ship with the Pebble Time 2. A few tweaks could make it even more outstanding. The development community is active and new apps are coming out for Pebble every day. For about a hundred bucks, this watch is a bargain. If I missed something, I will add it in the review as I remember. If you have any questions about this watch or any others, please let know in the comments. If I've helped you with my review, I would REALLY appreciate if you clicked the "helpful" button. Good luck with your smart watch search!

If all you're looking for is a simple timepiece that happens to send you notifications, then this is a very good watch for you. I've never owned a smartwatch, and I really wasn't looking for a wrist computer that I would check as compulsively as my phone. It gives me the time, sends me notices about texts and updates, then gets out of the way. I can even send canned responses back through my watch, if I don't need to pull my phone out of my pocket. The microphone works reasonably well, though I've had to repeat a couple times and accept the lack of punctuation. The interface and phone app are both fairly easy to use, and it was pretty easy to turn off email notifications (not as important for me to see right away).

The e-paper display is phenomenal in the daylight, and the back-light works well enough in the dark. Battery life is AMAZING so far. I got my watch and charged it on Monday evening. It is now Thursday night, and it's only now in the 40% range (battery status is shown in increments of 10%, so I don't know exactly where it's at).

With the new generation Pebbles coming out soon, prices are dropping for the current models. If you just need a simple smartwatch without the bells and whistles Apple and Samsung throw at you, you really can't go wrong with the Pebble Time.

*Saturday Edit: My watch's battery is still only in the 20% range. This is after a few days of using the built in microphone to reply to text messages and adding notifications from Android's theScore sports app. I think I may actually make it to 7 days. A couple clear caveats: This is only the first charge. I've used only a simple watch face (no intensive graphics or weather watching) and I've kept Pebble Health turned off (I don't generally wear watches when I sleep, so no big loss). Still, all that said, this has been a fun watch. I like being able to respond to my texts without pulling my phone out, especially at work. Hopefully the battery life remains consistent after multiple charges. Very good buy!

**UPDATE 9/26: So far, I've only needed to charge this watch three times since I got it. Its usefulness increased quite a bit today, when I discovered how to input proper punctuation on voice texts. You just say the punctuation you need to use. Example: "Hey Sam (comma) want to see the game today (question mark) Let me know (period)" This has come in very handy for when I need to respond to work texts without needing to pull out the phone. Otherwise, battery life is still very good. I've enjoyed the simple analog watchface, so I haven't tried the more intensive faces yet. I'm sure the battery will deplete a little faster as I use more of the features.

***UPDATE 11/4: I'll make this my final update. This watch has still been very excellent for me. I have yet to notice any significant battery drain, and it's still lasting me for close to 7 days! I haven't gone too crazy with my notifications. I only really have my SMS and Facebook texts show up as well as a sports app I have on my phone. There are a couple scuff marks on the bezel after I hit my wrist on a wall, though I do that quite a lot, and the fact that there are only a couple marks says a lot about the build quality of the phone. It is still a very comfortable watch to wear, with the slight curve on the watch bottom often making me forget that I'm wearing one. My only complaint is that the wrist band is either too tight or too loose, though that's really more about the size of my wrist than anything Pebble could have done.

****UPDATE 6/20/17: With Pebble no longer in business (the company was disbanded while the OS technology was absorbed into Fitbit), I figured I would add another update to my watch using experience.

For the most part, I still haven't added too much flair to this watch. I'm still quite happy accepting only sports scores, FB messages and texts, so that my phone can stay silent the bulk of the day. I am using the same watchface I've had since close to the beginning, and haven't seen much need to change it (though I am starting to look at a couple jazzier options, if I feel the desire). I appreciate that the Pebble app community is so large that watchface and app options are still so numerous, even several months after Fitbit bought them.

On the subject of Fitbit, I was like many other Pebble owners wondering what the plan was. I'm glad Fitbit put out an app update recently that took some core watch functions off the server and into the user's phone/watch. Functionally, I haven't noticed any real difference between when I bought it and now, so whatever they're doing, it seems to be working for the most part. There have been maybe three instances of my watch and phone forgetting each other. The problem lasted about a week, then I never saw it again. To be fair, I can't be certain whether the issue was on the watch or the phone. Battery-wise, I seem to have lost *maybe* a day of battery life, compared to the beginning, but I'm still getting the better part of a week out of it.

With Pebble now gone, I'm not certain one can still set up a Pebble account. It's possible you can still buy a refurbished model and simply pair it to the phone, but I don't know that. It's a shame that there isn't a current smartwatch with the affordability, readability and functionality of this one.

The first few hours were weird, but I quickly learned to appreciate it. It's also visible in the sun compared to normal LCD watches too.

Bezel - I don't know why the bezel needs to be so big on these watches. They could have made the screen much bigger in the same size. This is a problem with a lot of smartwatches. I just don't get it. Wasted space.

Looks - It's an average looking watch at best. It sorta looks like a toy, depending on the band. You could pull it off in a professional environment, especially with a mesh or link band. But..it looks much more at home in the gym. The just announced Pebble Time 2 is all steel and should be a nicer looking watch. However that won't be out until almost Christmas '16 and it will cost double what this Pebble Time is going for in May.

Conclusion: Overall, I love this watch.

3.0 out of 5 stars A mixed bag - good features for the price, but let down by the little things
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 16, 2016
The Pebble Time is an interesting smartwatch. For the price, the functionality is great and the long battery life is a real boon, but it is let down by some hardware quality issues, software issues and inconsistencies.

Hardware wise, the biggest issue is the bezel and glass. It is very soft and easily scratched. My watch face was very scratched within a few days despite being very careful with it. Shamefully, Pebble won't sell any spare parts, so despite iFixit finding a relatively easy way to replace the front, it is not possible to source a replacement. I also have problems with the connection to the charging cable - it has to 'dock' into a small recess on the back of the watch body, and this recess is prone to collecting dust and detritus which then prevent the cable from engaging fully. This isn't helped by the band and watch back material being quite 'sweaty' on the skin in warm conditions, so the detritus sticks well in the recess.

Software wise, I've had issues with the battery indication. The watch often 'sticks' at a given battery percentage so will stay on for example 80% for days before dying completely without warning. It will also at times jump instantly to 100% when connecting the charger and then refuse to charge without restarting the watch. This does seem to have improved with the last couple of firmware updates so hopefully this might have been fixed now.

Finally, the software is a bit inconsistent - they tend to change a lot with each firmware update. It's great to have new features regularly, but the regular changes in UI and appearance are a bit annoying. I;ve had this since April and I've already had three majorly different UI and appearances.

As a functional product, on the whole, it is good. But it is lacking in polish and the wow factor of Android Wear and Apple Watch. Despite being colour and having more features, I think the Time is an inferior product to the classic Pebble which seems to be more robust and reliable.

4.0 out of 5 stars Siguiendo la estela

5.0 out of 5 stars LO smartwatch.

In nero e beige . Elegantissimo. VI DO UN CONSIGLIO PRATICO: installate sullo smartphone BLACKBERRY HUB. Chi come me usa il BB da tempo sa cos'è, per gli altri vi dico che è tutto il vs mondo di notifiche racchiuso in un'app pratica, funzionale, ordinata. Lo installate sullo smartphone e potete far sincronizzare il Pebble anche solamente con quella. PAM! tutto a posto. Il fatto se le notifiche funzioneranno dal 2018? Dalle notizie che girano in rete, dal lavoro che molti stanno facendo su aggiornamenti e patch varie e con l'ultimo aggiornamento ufficiale rilasciato da Pebble direi proprio di si.
Prendetelo.

5.0 out of 5 stars Aiuto, non riesco piu' a farne meno!

5.0 out of 5 stars Ottimo dispositivo
Reviewed in Italy on July 17, 2016
Ottimo smartwatch. Durata della batteria 4 giorni. Meglio di come si presenta nelle recensioni on line. Software ben fatto.
