They are great for the price. They really do hit the lows. Currently I am overpowering these and its handling it like a champ. My system is capable of driving 600 ohm headphones which is very bad for MOST 32ohm headphones as its just too much power. However, these handle it like a champ. But not only that, I have boosted the 31hz range by 24db and 60hz by 6db, and volume at max, there is ZERO distortion. It handles it like a champ which is just insane. If you have ever sat in a vehicle that had a really nice system with subwoofer, with those two ranges boosted, its like being in the car. Its crystal clear so far and I've had absolutely zero sound related issues.
On that note, unlike my my expensive sennheisers, they aren't as comfortable. HOWEVER, this is because I have relatively big ears, so I can feel it touch. I am looking into modding these to give the cup surround more meat. Right now they have about a half an inch of padding when I am used to phones with about 1" of padding.
The 10hz to 30khz is legit. Using testing equipment (and seeing rolloff) it does indeed hit the notes from top to bottom and vice versa. So, they are damn good. Compared to say 169.99 sennheisers, these sound slightly better, but are nowhere near as comfortable as the sennheisers.
Sound (5/5): For the price I think the sound from these is par none. Amazing clarity and balance, especially when used with a DAC, though I mainly use them at work without one. The lows are tight but have a little more kick than my sennheisers, which I find enjoyable, especially when listening to electronic or rap music. However the mids can feel a little washed out at times, but using an equalizer should help remedy that issue. At the end of the day, the sound out of these is still unbelievable for $100 and accommodate a wide variety of musical genres and gaming needs.
Comfort (3/5): Like with any pair of cans, comfort is subjective and comes down to head and ear size. These headphones are definitely made for people with larger heads and ears, which was perfect for me and I found them incredibly cozy for closed-back headphones. However, I had serious issues with the earcup swivel, which is very rugged and stiff, and doesn't allow the earcup to conform to the angles of your head easily, and means you can't easily move one earcup to the side of your head and listen to your surroundings without some awkward slipping and discomfort. I use these for work and constantly need to keep one earcup off to listen and talk with co-workers, and these made that almost impossible without slippage and discomfort. They also didn't like to hang around my neck without rotating around into weird flat angles and choking me.
Build Quality (4/5): Great build quality. It feels cheap but that is simply because they are using light, strong materials to maximize comfort. Very rugged looking and feels like they'd really last.
Can hit most highs and most lows with decent mids. Slightly muffled overall (flat spectrum) so some instruments get surpressed to reduce depth of sound. But overall great 3-d sound, not tinny or bass-dampened.
Comes with decent quality fake leather pouch with drawstring, 2 cords (coiled/straight) which could be longer, and an adapter. Fold up nicely into itself by pushing two cups together and up -a bit tricky but space-saving.
First time I took them off my head (gently, mind you) the right swivel joint snapped in half where screws are meant to hold it together. I was prepared to send them back but, after bolstering both joints with a few layers of electrical tape, these headphones have turned out to be quite sturdy.
Sound quality is great for general use (gaming, musical instruments, tv) but they have minimal noise isolating qualities, which is different from what I've read from other posts and something I was really looking for. Initially they were also very quiet/weak when connected to my iPhone at full blast, but after trying these out on my guitar amp they loosened up and sound output got much better on all devices.
If you have medium to large sized ears, I recommend buying the lyxpro has-30 headphone pads to add to their comfort a bit (I got them for 9 bucks). My last photo shows the default pad on the left and the lyxpro pad on the right.
If you find these headphones for cheap (20-50 bucks) and don't mind reinforcing the joints to minimize any joints breaking, I recommend them.
