Description

Classroom is a free service for schools, non-profits, and anyone with a personal Google account. Classroom makes it easy for learners and instructors to connect—inside and outside of schools. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate, and stay organized.

Classroom is designed to help teachers create, collect, and grade assignments paperlessly, including time-saving features like the ability to automatically make a copy of a Google Document for each student. It also creates Drive folders for each assignment and for each student to help keep everyone organized.

Students can keep track of what’s due on the Assignments page and begin working with just a click. Teachers can quickly see who has or hasn't completed the work, and provide direct, real-time feedback and grades right in Classroom.

With the mobile app for iOS, students and teachers can view their classes and communicate with their classmates in real time. Students can open their assignments and work on them right from their iPhone or iPad. Teachers can keep track of who has turned in work and grade the assignment - at school or on the go. Students and teachers receive notifications when they have new content in Classroom, so they are always up to date.

There are many benefits of using Classroom:

Easy to set up
Teachers can add students directly or share a code with their class to join. It takes just minutes to set up.

Saves time
The simple, paperless assignment workflow allows teachers to create, review, and grade assignments quickly, all in one place.

Improves organization
Students can see all of their assignments on an assignments page, and all class materials (e.g., documents, photos, and videos) are automatically filed into folders in Google Drive.

Enhances communication
Classroom allows teachers to send announcements and start class discussions instantly. Students can share resources with each other or provide answers to questions on the stream.

Secure
Like the rest of Google Workspace for Education services, Classroom contains no ads, never uses your content or student data for advertising purposes.

Permissions Notice:
Camera: Needed to allow the user to take photos or videos and post them to Classroom.
Microphone: Needed to enable audio capture for recording videos to be posted to Classroom.
Photos: Needed to allow the user to attach photos or videos to Classroom. Photos or videos posted to Classroom will be stored on Google servers in order to show them in Classroom.

Worse ever..

Having a missing work folder can be helpful, but if children can see/read it, and if they have a ton, or few it can push thoughts like why can’t I finish this am i useless am I lazy? Which can cause suicidal thoughts which I do not appreciate, and this can stress children out not the missing work just the work since it could be due tomorrow an essay I believe all work should only be allowed to be due 2 days ahead, or even 3! Since this can help out on work which can be confusing, hard to read, or even useless i also believe you should have a button if a work is due today they should have a extension button which if a student clicks it sends out a note/private comment to the teacher saying “This Student needs an extension to this Google Classroom Assignment (link to assignment) this can extremely help within essay's, etc i also believe that this all can stress out an child’s imagination, and future imagine if your a younger student around 2nd grade 3rd grade - below it can ruin your imagination having to do assignments, or homework all the time, or keep looking at a screen which can damage eyes!

PLEASE FIX THE DESIGN ASAP!! 🔴🔴

The design makes school work harder to do, it’s very complicated and I wish the style is more simple and minimalist and banners on the front page is just not it…the to-do list is horrible because you have to keep switching back and forth, like when you finish a missing assignment and want to complete all of the missing assignments you have to keep going back to that page. It would be better if there was boxes for each section and have them labeled. This needs an upgrade please take inspiration from other to-do lists (like classify) and apps. ALSO, please allow us to remove a class, BECAUSE teachers don’t want to or forget to remove it….like I am NOT IN MIDDLE SCHOOL… 🙄😡. And it needs a search button, like asap!! 🔴HAVE SIMPLE FRONT PAGE ITS SOOOOOO UGLY. IT should be MINIMALISTIC AND SIMPLE AND PLEASE MAKE IT CUSTOMIZABLE. LIKE I DONT WANT THE TEACHER TO PUT SOME GOOFY PICTURE ON THE BANNER, TO MAKE IT EASY For STUDENTS WE Should be able to customize the color, the banner(it’s easy for us to identify the class), everything the size except the assignments in the materials that the teachers post obviously. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WORK ON THE DESIGN!!🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴🔴

Bad

Google Classroom's shortcomings extend far beyond mere inconvenience; they represent systemic failures that impede effective learning and compromise student privacy. The platform's clunky interface and lack of essential features create a learning environment rife with frustration and inefficiency. Moreover, Google Classroom's reliance on internet connectivity further exacerbates educational disparities, leaving students in underserved areas behind without access to crucial resources. Privacy concerns loom large over Google Classroom, as the platform's integration within the Google ecosystem facilitates the collection of vast amounts of student data. This data harvesting raises alarming questions about the security and ethical use of sensitive information, potentially exposing students to privacy breaches and exploitation. Furthermore, Google Classroom's vendor lock-in traps schools in a cycle of dependence, stifling innovation and preventing them from exploring alternative solutions that may better suit their needs. In essence, Google Classroom isn't just flawed—it's a deeply flawed system that undermines the very principles of effective education and student well-being.
