- NGenuity software is Windows-only so limits the usefulness of the headset
- Software leaves a lot to be desired
- USB dongle required so it will take up a USB port
- No Bluetooth support
- Limited to 16-bit 48khz audio
- No EQ to adjust audio
- Shuts off after 10 minutes with no audio (and no ability to change this)
- DTS:X support is either a trial or limited basis (couldn't get mine to activate the DTS:X license)
- HyperX support is terrible, so don't expect help if you need it
A decent headset with good audio and some annoying limitations that aren't enough for me to dock it a star. The price is good, especially if you can find it discounted closer to $50. While not an audiophile-quality headset, the sound it does put out is surprisingly good across the board. I have not been disappointed by audio from music, movies, games, or even Zoom meetings. It is slightly bass heavy, and unfortunately (unlike some of the more expensive HyperX headsets) there is no equalizer to adjust this.
However, if you want a simple headset that you don't need to fiddle around with, this should more than meet your needs. The flip-to-mute mic is always a welcome addition, and this one works well, with clear vocal audio. I wouldn't recommend this if you want to record podcasts, although it will certainly do in a pinch. It seems to handle everything quite well.
I primarily use this as a backup headset when my primary headset dies, but I'm generally surprised with it each time I put it on. HyperX software and support leave A LOT to be desired, and I wish they would work on that, but with the affordable cost combined with the audio quality from the cans and microphone, I give these a lukewarm 5 stars. 4.5 stars is what I would give this if I could give it a half-star rating.

Was really frustrated with all the wires coming from my PC tower, and vowed to myself, to go wireless as soon as affordably possible. Nearly spent over $100+ to accomplish that goal, but tempered my purchase decision with comparison after comparison. Had the Cloud II wireless been available on Amazon, I would have chose that headset- at a higher price, due to the multi- platform functionality (works w/everything). That feature being negligible to me, and the price point of Cloud Stinger Core 7.1, Wireless won me over. Sound is not bad- but the Ngenuity 7.1 - I believe that gum has lost it's flaayvaaa, just slide the switch off in the software. Surprise bonus, cloth-like earpads, because the pics look like pleather but they are not and Let. Me. Tell. You! When those type earcups go bad, they are a nasty horror movie. That deteriorated slimy material gets on your skin and it wont come oFFFF! And it doesn't matter that you religiously wiped your earcups clean, they just die horribly. Dislike # 1.(but by no means a deal breaker) HyperX website says these ear pieces are supposed to swivel- They Don't! Dislike # 2. Short charging cable- Marathon game session might require you to use while charging (My personal record is 4-days,with food, restroom breaks, losing consciousness briefly, real life stuff, you can use them while charging, just buy extra 6ft cable. On that note- will try to remember to write an obituary for the battery upon its death, because you have to send them in to get it replaced. With the money saved by choosing this model, bought spare earcups on HyperX website- Now I'm Big Dikin!Edit 10/12/2023: Still holding a charge like new. It turns out the earcups do have that detestable pleather around the cuff that hold them to the driver case, which flaked a few months back. It can be said though, the earcups did hold up for longer than thought possible. Would still buy again if needed.
