Antelope ups the ante with its new Rubicon preamp

Yesterday, Caleb, our resident audiophile, was giddy with excitement about Antelope Audio’s Rubicon Atomic AD/DA preamp.

What made Caleb so pumped for Antelope’s preamp? Well, it uses a rubidium atomic clock as a portion of its digital to analog and analog to digital converters. A digital to analog converter (DAC) takes ones and zeros and turns it into an electrical signal that we can hear. Antelope’s DAC is 100,000 times more accurate than the normal quartz oscillator technology that has been used in digital clocks.

For some more details about the Rubicon, check out Caleb’s article. He goes more in depth on how DACs work and what the Rubicon will feature, save the price which is still under wraps.
