Apple AirPods Max are $50 off in Amazon’s Prime Day in October sale

Discounts on Apple products aren’t too common. Retailers know that the demand for devices like AirPods will always be high. Fortunately, they all relax a little bit when events like Prime Day come around. For instance, Amazon has dropped the price of the Apple AirPods Max to $499 from their usual $549. Don’t hesitate to grab them because Prime Day deals are only lost until Wednesday night.

Why you should buy the Apple AirPods Max

There’s a lot to say about the Apple AirPods Max, the least of which is that they have excellent audio thanks to Apple’s H1 audio chip, which each cup has. Having so many chips on there means you get some fancy features, such as spatial audio and industry-leading ANC. As for audio fidelity, it’s very clear, although not as punchy as something like the Sony WH-1000XM4, which isn’t to say it isn’t as deep; it has excellent bass but doesn’t have the same mid-range boost as the XM4. As for the treble range, it’s similarly clear and sparkly without being too tinny sounding, which makes it easier when listening to brass instruments, so it’s great if you’re into jazz or classical music. One thing to note is that you might get different listening experiences depending on whether ANC is on or off, but that seems to vary significantly by person.

As for the overall build, it’s excellent, which is what you’d expect from Apple, and the cushions on the earcups are very comfortable, so it’s great for extended listening. That’s lucky because battery life is also excellent, up to around 24 hours, depending on your volume and ANC usage, which is more than enough to plug them in once a day or so if you’re a heavy user. Speaking of ANC, we also need to mention transparency mode, which is just as good and feels like you aren’t wearing headphones at all, which is quite the trick from Apple. Finally, call quality is excellent, and the AirPods Max does a great job of quieting the surrounding noise, making your voice very clear.

Overall, if you’re a big fan of the Apple ecosystem and want the best audio, the Apple Airpods Max is hard to beat, especially with Amazon’s deal bringing them down to $499. Of course, if you aren’t in the Apple ecosystem and don’t necessarily want to enter it, you can take advantage of many great non-Apple headphone deals.

Best AirPods Max deals: Get the noise-canceling headphones for $384
A woman wearing the Apple AirPods Max.

The AirPods Max are fantastic headphones -- but they're expensive. Apple knocked it out of the park with their first foray into over-the-ear headphones, but they slapped a classic Apple price tag on them. With rumors of the AirPods Max 2 brewing, the price of the first generation has shrunk a bit at most retailers. Whether you're looking for a new pair fresh out of the box, or you don't mind a refurbished model, we have AirPods Max deals for you that will save you some serious cash.
AirPods Max -- $479, were $549

The AirPods Max are Apple's first attempt at a set of over-the-ear headphones. They got a lot of things right. We love these headphones, even when compared against some audiophile options that prioritize sound quality. The AirPods Max have awesome noise cancelling. Everything Apple learned with the earbud-style AirPods works even better with the cup style of the AirPods Max. Along with great ANC comes a great transparency mode. With a twist of the Max's massive knob, you'll go from complete silence to feeling like you're not wearing headphones at all. The audio on phone calls is great as well, and they pair better with the iPhone than any non-Apple headphones could ever hope to.

All of the AirPods deals below are from a site called Back Market, which has 30-day free returns on all of their AirPods offers. Plus, if your refurbished AirPods end up having any mechanical faults that affect their ability to function, you have a one-year warranty you can invoke. Every model of AirPod still being developed currently has a refurbished model on sale. Check them out below.
Apple AirPods 2 -- $89, were $130

The good old AirPods 2 won't let you down. They are the cheapest AirPods still being manufactured, and buying them refurbished brings the price well below $100. They don't have noise cancelling or some of the other models, but they still pair well with your iPhone, iPad or MacBook and have good sound. A pair in fair condition with a charging cable is pretty cheap. If the superficial scratches turn out to be too much for you, you can return them within 30 days. If the damage turns out to be technical rather than cosmetic, they have a one-year warranty so you can send them back or get a replacement for free.

Amazon just slashed the price of this 32-inch smart TV to $130
A family plays in a living room with an Amazon Fire TV on the wall.

While we tend to recommend Fire TVs from manufacturers such as TLC, we do sometimes come across a great deal on Amazon's TV, the Fire TV 2-series, and if you're looking for a great budget TV that's a the smaller size, this one's a great option. In fact, you can grab it from Amazon for just $130, rather than the usual $200, making it one of the best budget Amazon TV deals you'll likely find this weekend.

Why you should buy the 32-inch Amazon Fire TV 2-Series
While the Amazon 2-Series only runs at an HD resolution, which is 720p, it does impressively support both HDR10 and HLG, two pieces of tech we rarely see on TVs at this price point. In fact, the latter is what most broadcasters use, so if you're a big sports fan, the HLG will come in pretty handy for an overall better picture quality. It also comes with Dolby Digital Audio for better audio quality, and while we'd generally suggest grabbing one of these soundbar deals, even a budget one, it's a nice thing to have that won't increase the cost of setting up a whole new home theater.
