Everything leaving Hulu in March 2024

Bradley Cooper and Cate Blanchett in Nightmare Alley.
Searchlight Pictures

Almost every streaming service loses some of its best titles at the end of the month, and Hulu is no exception in March. Even Searchlight Pictures films like Nightmare Alley, Birdman, and The Banshees of Inisherin are going out the door despite falling under the banner of Disney’s 20th Century Studios. Crowd-pleasers from other studios like Crazy Rich Asians, Inception, A Star is Born, Batman Begins, and Goodfellas are also leaving, and those are definitely films that will be missed.

However, March is one of the seven months of the year that has 31 days, so that gives you extra time to catch some of these flicks. Alternatively, if you’re willing to let these films escape to some other streaming service without watching them again, perhaps you’ll be more interested in the new movies on Hulu that arrived on the 1st of the month. Either way, check out the full list of everything leaving Hulu in March 2024. Our favorite picks for the month are in bold.

This is also a great time to consider the Disney Bundle, which gets you Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ for just $14 per month. That’s basically like getting all three services, but only paying for two of them, and it’s pretty tough to beat. It’s also a great way to make sure you don’t miss anything on any of these services.

Our top pick for March

Nightmare Alley (2021)

Nightmare Alley

7.0/10
r 150m
Genre Crime, Thriller, Drama
Stars Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Toni Collette
Directed by Guillermo del Toro

Even after winning Best Director for The Shape of Water, Guillermo del Toro is sorely underrated as a filmmaker. And unfortunately, audiences just didn’t show up in large numbers for his remake of Nightmare Alley. Bradley Cooper has one of his darkest performances to date as Stan Carlisle, a drifter who develops an impressive talent for cold reading in the early 1940s that makes rubes believe that he’s an actual medium.

It’s a con that Stan developed with his assistant, Molly Chaill (Rooney Mara), and it captivates their audience. That brings Stan to the attention of Dr. Lilith Ritter (Cate Blanchett), a woman who is even more devious than he is. Ritter puts forth a high-stakes con for Stan to fool the very skeptical Judge Kimball (Peter MacNeill) into believing that Stan can contact his late wife. And if Stan can’t pull off this act, he’ll lose everything.

3 Peacock movies you need to stream this weekend (March 15-17)
A man and a woman talk in The Place Beyond the Pines.

With the 2024 Oscars now just a memory and college basketball about to go into overdrive with March Madness, this weekend feels a bit empty in terms of movie choices. Of course, you could see Kung Fu Panda 4 or Dune: Part Two in theaters again, or you can stay at home and see what's streaming.

If you do, there's a great selection awaiting you at an unlikely streamer. Peacock has a killer lineup, with the Oscar-winning Oppenheimer now streaming. But there are other movies, most neglected and woefully underrated, that are worth your time, too. One is an epic crime drama, another is a campy comedy from the '90s, and the final recommended movie is a modern Western starring a former Batman.

3 underrated Netflix movies you should watch this weekend (March 15-17)
A vampire hides from a woman in John Carpenter's Vampires.

March's Netflix slate is pretty impressive. On the new movies side, there's Damsel, a modern take on an age-old fantasy tale featuring Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, Angela Bassett, Robin Wright, Nick Robinson, Ray Winstone, and a fire-breathing dragon. There's also older fare like 2020's Alone, a pandemic thriller no one had heard about until it shot up Netflix's most popular movies chart this week.

There are also quality movies on Netflix that were released before 2020, films that are worth another look if you've already seen them in years past. Digital Trends has compiled a list of three underrated movies on Netflix that are worth watching this weekend.

A man aims his gun in Safe.

We're living in a movie world dominated by sandworms (Dune: Part Two) and lethal pandas (Kung Fu Panda 4), and that's perfectly fine. The box office is up, people are enthused about films again, and the 2024 Oscars showed people still give a damn about quality entertainment.

If you've already traveled to Arrakis and seen those kick-ass pandas, there's still a wealth of streaming options available for the weekend. If you want to save a few extra dollars, Digital Trends has compiled a short list of three movies you can stream for free this weekend. The occasional ad break is worth it, especially for the three films below.
