What’s new on Hulu in April 2024 and what’s leaving soon

Where would Hulu be without FX? Probably not continuously among the top streamers. Hulu does get a nice selection of movies every month, and April is no exception. But FX’s fantastic Shogun series has really carried Hulu this year. And before the end of April, it will be joined by FX’s new spy drama, The Veil, which features Elisabeth Moss in a leading role.

FX is also dropping Welcome to Wrexham season 3, American Horror Story: Delicate: Part 2, and The New York Times Presents: Broken Horses on Hulu this month. And frankly, those shows, along with Shogun and The Veil, are the most exciting things that Hulu has going for it right now.

The best shows on Disney+ right now (April 2024)

The good news for Disney+ subscribers is that there are new episodes of X-Men '97 and Star Wars: The Bad Batch throughout April and into early May. Beyond those two shows, older audiences are starved for new programing on Disney+ that isn't geared toward young children. And if you do have kids, then you may learn just how many times you can watch the same episodes of Bluey season 3 over and over again without going mad.

This month, National Geographic is the only option for new Disney+ shows if you don't have a Hulu subscription as well. On April 21, National Geographic is debuting the new three-part miniseries Secrets of the Octopus, which will make its streaming debut April 22 on Disney+. Additionally, National Geographic's Drain the Oceans has been added to Disney+ as well.

If you have to watch one Tubi movie this April, stream this one

If you're looking for the streaming service with the best lineup of movies, Tubi would probably not be at the top of your list. Compared to Netflix or Max, Tubi's library isn't quite as impressive. But Tubi does have one big advantage over the larger streamers: It's free. There are ads, of course, but Tubi is also easier to navigate than similar FAST (Free Ad-supported Streaming Television) channels , plus it has some really good films.

This month, Tubi still has a selection of Warner Bros.' DC films, including The Batman, but the real attraction of this streaming service are the movies from the 1970s, '80s, and '90s that don't get a lot of attention in the streaming era. Without FAST Channels, it would be a lot harder to find our pick for the one Tubi movie that you should watch this April: Hoosiers.
