Is there anything worse than scratching a DVD disc you just recorded to from your DVD camcorder? Maybe, but TDK bets you want to avoid that potential problem by unveiling some new media which they say is scratch proofing.
The new 8cm ScratchProof Double Sided DVD recording media, according to a company press release, uses exclusive DURABIS hard coating technology on both sides of the discs. This technology protects the discs against scratches, enhances the disc’s static discharge rate and prevents damage from exposure to ultraviolet rays.
The line, which comes in Doubled Sided DVD-R, DVD-R and DVD-RW, is rated for up to x2 recording and offers a 2.8GB capacity.
“The DVD camcorder format requires optical disc media to perform in a new and challenging environment – the outdoors,†said Chris Bailey, TDK Director of Recording Media. “Not only does TDK 8cm ScratchProof Double Sided DVD media offer superb recording stability in the field, but it’s also designed to withstand the rigors of being handled in less than ideal conditions. TDK’s new 8cm ScratchProof Double Sided DVD is tough, reliable recording media that incorporates a double-sided formulation to enable capturing two times more video than was previously possible with DVD camcorders.’
