In an effort to stir some interest ahead of its media event at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 7, the Korean firm on Tuesday posted several images of a new-look Smart Hub on its Flickr page alongside the title Samsung Smart TV Unveils New Smart Hub.
Smart Hub is Samsung’s all-singing, all-dancing Internet-connected media center that allows owners of compatible TVs to enjoy a huge range of content, including real-time broadcasts, catch-up services, on-demand movies, web content, apps, photos and more.
Text in both English and Korean accompanied the post, revealing that “a whole new” Smart Hub will be unveiled at CES. Details are scant at this stage, though the tech giant promises a simplified user interface and a re-designed background image.
A new-look Smart Hub is all well and good but it may pale in comparison with everything else Samsung has lined up for visitors to CES next month. An 18-second teaser video released by the tech company earlier this month may have contained “almost no information whatsoever”, but that didn’t stop DT’s Andy Boxall speculating about the goodies Samsung might have in store for consumers, including a selection of new tablets, smartphones, HDTVs and even a whole new brand identity.
