Movie night no longer needs a blank white wall or a complicated projector setup. Samsung has launched the Freestyle+ AI Smart Projector for $1,200 in the US, and its biggest trick is making almost any surface work as your screen.

Whether you’re projecting onto patterned wallpaper, a colored wall, or even a space with shelves and picture frames, the projector uses AI to automatically adjust the image so you can start watching with minimal effort. The portable projector can create a Full HD picture up to 100 inches, making it an easy companion for everything from backyard movies to bedroom binge sessions.

What makes the Freestyle+ smarter than a typical projector?

At the heart of the Freestyle+ are five AI-powered tools: 3D Auto Keystone, Wall Calibration, Screen Fit, Real-time Focus, and Obstacle Avoidance, working together to keep the picture sharp and properly aligned.

The projector can straighten distorted images, compensate for colored or patterned walls, automatically focus as you move it, and even shift the picture to avoid objects blocking the projection.

Samsung also boosted brightness to 430 ISO lumens, nearly doubling the previous model’s output, while PurColor and HDR10+ support promise richer colors and better contrast.

What else does the Samsung Freestyle+ offer?

The Freestyle+ doubles as a complete entertainment hub. It includes Samsung TV Plus with more than 750 free channels, built-in streaming apps, and Samsung Gaming Hub for cloud gaming without a console.

Vision AI Companion combines Bixby and Gemini to answer questions and recommend content, while Tap View, Smart View, and Apple AirPlay 2 make it easy to mirror your phone. The built-in 360-degree speaker with dual passive woofers supports Q-Symphony for synchronized sound with compatible Samsung speakers. You can power it outdoors using Samsung’s battery base or a compatible USB-C battery.

If portability is high on your list, it’s worth seeing how the Freestyle+ stacks up against other options in our guide to the best portable projectors you can buy right now.

Sonos community manager ShaunFromSonos announced that the release may take up to two weeks to reach everyone. Once it arrives, users must switch on Enable Improved Navigation in the app’s settings to unlock the new layout and sorting tools.
