Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones are under $300

Sony

Sony is a well-established brand in the world of noise canceling headphones. Over the last several years, the Big S has released some of the best ANC over-ear and in-ear products, and the brand shows no signs of stopping. Fortunately, newer headphones mean that an older generation tends to be priced cheaper. Such is the case with this great offer we found on a great set of Sony cans:

Right now, when you order the Sony WH-1000XM4 Wireless Headphones through Crutchfield or Amazon, you’ll save $50 on your purchase. Usually this model is $350. We tested these cans a few years ago and reviewer Simon Cohen had this to say: “Sony’s WH-1000XM4 are what perfect looks like.”

Why you should buy the Sony WH-1000XM4

The Sony XM4 are a very comfortable pair of ANC headphones that can last for quite a long time on a full charge. In most cases, you’ll get up to 35 hours of playback, and it only takes about 2.5 hours to recharge these headphones. But we’re all here to learn about the sound quality, right? Yeah, these Sonys are simply breathtaking in that regard. Expect brilliant highs and energetic, punchy low-end from these bad boys, which bodes particularly well for movie fans and gaming fanatics who love a lot of bass in their audio mixes.

The real reason to write home about these cans, though, is the ANC experience. The Sony XM4 are able to block out bass-heavy distractions like engine noise, construction crews, and HVAC systems. Still, it can also deaden nearby conversations and other noises, ensuring you hear nothing but your favorite music and podcasts. We’re also big fans of the Sony Sound Connect app, which lets you assign different EQ presets (as well as create your own), monitor battery level, download updates, and more.

Historically, the Sony XM4 hasn’t dipped much in price over the last few years, so any sale is cause for running out and buying these! Save $50 when you order the Sony WH-1000XM4 at Crutchfield, and be sure to check out our list of the best Sony WH-1000XM5 deals (the generation after the XM4). We also have a list of great headphone deals from other brands, too!

Why you should buy the Sony WH-1000XM5
Sony's WH-1000XM5 have topped our list of the best headphones overall, and the XM4 model did before them. They're just that good. Truth be told, they're powering this very article, with their powerful ANC kicking in between tracks to block out the fan no more than two feet from me. And while, nowadays, they've hit a "mere" second place on our list of the best noise-canceling headphones, there comes a point where the need to improve is like splitting hairs. ANC aside, the WH-1000XM5 make navigating the world easy and customizable to your whims. Where I do a quick double-tap and palm-on to the right earcup to pause and engage with the world, you may enjoy an automatic aware mode on speech or variable noise-cancellation levels as you walk.
