How to make a video call on the Roborock Qrevo Curv

The Qrevo Curv and its mobile app.
Roborock

The Roborock Qrevo Curv is one of the best robot vacuum and mop combos. It's capable of producing up to 18,500 Pa of suction, and with a bold new dock design, it’s both a striking work of art and a useful tool to have around the home. But aside from its good looks and effective cleaning skills, Roborock packed the gadget with some fun auxiliary features. And one of the often-overlooked features is its ability to make a video call.

  • Roborock mobile app

Officially dubbed “Remote Viewing,” the feature is essentially the same thing as a video call. Of course, it’s position on the ground makes it terrible for chatting with family, but it’s pretty great for checking in on pets. In fact, there’s a setting you can toggle that lets the Qrevo Curv zip around your home searching for your furry friend, ensuring they haven’t broken into your pantry or are (once again) digging through your houseplants.

Want to try it out? Here’s how to make a video call on the Roborock Qrevo Curv.

How to make a video call on the Roborock Qrevo Curv

Once you’ve gone through the initial installation process and mapped out your home, activating a video call is simple.

Step 1: Launch the Roborock mobile app.

Step 2: Select your Qrevo Curv and press Enter.

Step 3: Select the ellipsis icon at the top right of your screen.

Step 4: Enter the Remote Viewing menu.

Step 5: Here is where you can activate Remote Viewing. The first time you attempt to set up the feature, you’ll be asked to press the physical Power button on your Qrevo Curv. That means you’ll need to be next to your robot to get it working.

Step 6: You’ll also be asked to create a lock pattern that must be entered before anyone can access Remote Viewing.

Step 7: Once those two things are done, Remote Viewing is ready for action.

Step 8: Head back to the map of your home and select the camera icon on the right side of the screen. This will launch a Remote Viewing session (after entering your lock pattern).

There are a few cool ways to use Remote Viewing in your home. The simplest way is by pressing the buttons on the screen to manually rotate and move the robot. You can also press the Cruise button to have it move throughout your home automatically, or press Search for the Pet to have it move around until it’s located your furry pal. Additionally, you can use the Pin ‘n Go feature to drop a pin on your map to have the robot navigate to the destination.

The Tapo RV30 Max Plus in its docking station

Both can be purchased as standalone robots or bundled with an auto-empty dock, and they offer some pretty impressive stats despite their entry-level price tags below $300.

The Tapo RV30 Max is the more expensive of the duo, clocking in at $220 ($300 when bundled with its auto-empty docking station). Its suction numbers are quite low at just 5,300 Pa, but it does offer a unique Mesh Grid feature that helps it accurately map and move about your home. It works in conjunction with lidar and IMU Dual Navigation, which should also make it great at avoiding obstacles.
