Need condoms? You’ve got to hit that new Amazon Dash button

Add as a preferred source on Google

Expanding out into coverage of more than 100 brands, Amazon’s new Dash buttons include brands such as Doritos, Airborne, Playtex Sport, Red Bull, Energizer, Slim Jim and, of course, Trojan condoms. This large expansion of the Dash program arrives exactly a year after the original announcement, which was briefly debated as being an early April Fool’s joke from the Web retailer.

Product categories that are prevalent in the Dash program include beverages, personal care, household supplies, snacks, beauty, baby and pet items. It’s likely that Amazon has tracked significant usage of the Amazon Dash buttons among customers over the past year, otherwise the company wouldn’t have added an additional 80 brands today.

Of course, only Amazon Prime customers can take advantage of the Amazon Dash buttons. While the buttons are sold for an upfront fee of $4.99, Amazon is currently offering a $4.99 credit on your first purchase when using each button, thus making the hardware free. Amazon hasn’t released any data related to repeat business when using the Dash button, but has indicated that orders increased by 75 percent over the first three months of the year.

Here’s a complete list of all the new Amazon Dash buttons added to the program today:

Amazon wants to design in-house chips for Kindles, Fire TV, and Echo speakers
Apple did it first. Amazon is doing it now, starting with 40 million chips a year and a partner most people have never heard of.

Apple's decision to design its own chips reshaped the consumer electronics industry. Amazon may be about to make the same call, just about two decades later.

Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Amazon is preparing to shift away from externally sourced processors for its consumer electronics lineup, marking what he describes as the company's first major processor procurement change in 20 years. The transition is expected to begin in 2027.

Person, Security, Appliance

SwitchBot has launched the Outdoor Pan/Tilt Cam 3K in North America and the UK, adding a new outdoor security camera for monitoring yards, driveways, entrances, garages, and small shops.

The camera is designed to cover a wider area than a fixed security camera. It can rotate horizontally and vertically, follow moving subjects, record in 3K resolution, and use AI to summarize what happened in a clip, such as a delivery arriving, an animal entering the yard, or someone approaching the house.
