Turn your coffee table into a booze-burning fireplace you control with a phone

With almost every piece of technology becoming more intelligent, it was only a matter of time before a smart fireplace came along. Planika Intelligent Fire, which has been in business for more than a decade, now has a product to fit into your fireplace-less pad.

Fire Line Automatic 3 is a new intelligent fireplace that can be controlled with mobile devices. Furthermore, it doesn’t require a chimney, thanks to its fuel combustion technology.

Planika integrated its patented technology, known as BEV Technology, into the Fire Line Automatic 3. BEV Technology works by heating its ethanol biofuel, Fanola, to a temperature of 72 degrees Celsius. Once it’s heated, the product begins to create vapors. Then, the heating element within the Fire Line Automatic 3 increases to 1300 degrees Celsius, igniting the vapors. Because there is no direct contact between the fuel and the open flame, BEV Technology does not create ash or smoke. It’s a “clean” burn, as it only produces heat, CO2, and water vapor, according to the company. Evidently, the fire doesn’t even smell.

There are more than 15 safety sensors included in the fireplace itself. Some of these sensors gauge seismic activity, temperature, CO2, and fuel spillage. They connect to a microprocessor to help users operate the fireplace safely. During the manufacturing process, a wide range of tests on the product address everything from ignition safety to fuel consumption.

Planika’s chimney-less fireplaces have been around for a while, so it’s the Fire Line Automatic 3’s smart features that set it apart. Once it’s in the hands of the homeowner, it can be integrated into existing smart home technology for streamlined control. The product has an LED screen that lets users know when it needs to be serviced. Its built-in Wi-Fi system allows homeowners to regulate everything from flame size to color directly on their mobile device. There’s even a sleep timer, so the fire won’t burn all night. Finally, owners can connect more than one Fire Line Automatic 3 to create an extended line of flames.

It gives a new meaning to playing with fire.
