Wyze Cam v3 works indoors and outdoors, all for just $20

Wyze is a major name in the home security world, particularly with regard to home security on a budget. The company has been relentless of late, announcing a slew of new smart home devices like a smart thermostat and video doorbell. With today’s announcement, though, it’s back to security cameras with the new Wyze Cam v3 — both an indoor and outdoor cam priced at just $20, making it one of the most affordable options for home security on the market.

The low price includes a tremendous number of features, including a starlight sensor that helps grant color night vision. Almost no smart cameras have an advanced feature like color night vision at this price point. It also has a black-and-white night vision for areas where there is next to no light available.

While the Wyze Cam v3 can work as an indoor camera, it also has an IP65 weather resistance rating. While not waterproof, it will stand up to almost anything nature can throw at it short of complete immersion.

With 1080p resolution and simultaneous two-way audio, the Wyze Cam v3 can compete with the bigger names on the market. It has a clear picture and a 130-degree field of view, as well as 20 frames per second. If you pick up someone on camera that isn’t supposed to be there, you can startle them away with an 80-decibel siren.

The Wyze Cam v3 also has onboard storage up to 32GB. This allows it to record 24/7 and create time-lapse clips. There is also cloud storage available with free, 14-day rolling storage. You can control the Wyze Cam v3 through both Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Mounting the Wyze Cam v3 is simple. You have three options to choose from between the magnetic mount, the tripod, or screwing it into the wall. You don’t need any handyman know-how to install the Wyze, which makes it perfect for almost any home.

With the holiday season approaching, porch piracy will rise. This indoor and outdoor camera is a great budget option for protecting your packages from would-be thieves. It’s also a perfect gift for a child heading off to college for the first time.

The Wyze Cam v3 is expected to begin shipping in mid-November. If you’re interested, now is a great time to take advantage of the $20 price tag.

Alongside its premium filming resolution and impressive 180-degree field-of-view, the Wyze Cam Floodlight Pro also lets you enable a voice-deterrence system, which will automatically play a voice prompt telling intruders they’re being recorded. WyzeCam hands-on review center

When you put a security camera in your home, it's to keep an eye on things for yourself -- not to let hackers peer through the internet into your home.
