Android 11 update: Here’s when your phone is getting new software

Android 11 is here. The new mobile operating system isn’t necessarily as groundbreaking as some previous updates, but it still brings several new privacy features, as well as some visual changes that should make accessing things like smart home devices a whole lot easier.

Of course, you might be wondering exactly when your phone is getting Android 11. The good news is that Android 11 is coming to more devices week by week. The bad news is that even months after it debuted, some phones still haven’t received the update or only have early betas available. Still, some big names have rolled out the update to popular models — hopefully including the one in your hand.

Here are all the phones confirmed to get Android 11, and others we expect to get the update eventually.

Android 11 on Asus phones

Asus has joined the Android 11 beta program, however, there are currently only two eligible devices — the Asus Zenfone 6 and the Asus Zenfone 7 Pro. Still, more devices will likely join the beta as time goes on.

Android 11 on Black Shark phones

Black Shark is essentially Xiaomi’s gaming phone brand, and alongside Poco, Redmi, and actual Xiaomi phones, the company also shared which Black Shark phones will get the update. Here’s the list.

  • Black Shark 2
  • Black Shark 3

Android 11 on Google Pixel phones

As you would expect, Google Pixel phones are among the first to get Android 11 — however, not all Pixel devices will get the update. The original Pixel and Pixel XL won’t get any updates beyond Android 10, but considering that the original Pixel is now four years old, that’s not necessarily unexpected. As you might guess, the new Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 ship with Android 11.

  • Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL
  • Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL
  • Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL
  • Google Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL
  • Google Pixel 4a

Android 11 on LG phones

LG is finally beginning to roll out Android 11, but only in certain regions. We expect most of LG’s recent phones to get the update eventually, including the V50, G8, and G8X. We’ll have to wait and see just how long it takes these phones to get the update, but it may be at least a few months.

Android 11 on Microsoft phones

OK, so there’s only one Microsoft phone that could get Android 11, but recent reports indicate that users might have to wait a while. The Microsoft Surface Duo will reportedly get the Android 11 update “this summer,” according to a report from German outlet Dr. Windows.

Android 11 on Motorola phones

Motorola has finally announced the first of its devices to get Android 11, and we’re expecting a number of the company’s other phones to get the build soon too. The rollout is starting with the Moto G Pro, which is also known as the Moto G Stylus in the U.S. Unfortunately, the Moto G Pro is part of Android One — but the Moto G Stylus isn’t, so it may be a while before the U.S. version of the device gets the update. Motorola has promised the update to the Motorola One 5G too. Generally speaking, over the past few years, Motorola has been a little lax with Android updates, so even if you do have a recent Motorola device, it may be a while before you get Android 11. Eventually, we expect the Motorola Edge, Edge+, Moto G Series, and Motorola Razr to get the update.
