UberEats
Hungry? Uber has a new app that lets its drivers deliver food when they’re not dropping off passengers. UberEats has been around in test locations for a while, but its launch on iOS and Android puts it directly in competition with Seamless, Caviar, and Postmates. Just place an order from partnered restaurants and only pay for the food and delivery fee. The service is currently available in Atlanta, Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Paris, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, and Washington, D.C.
Huthunt
New Yorkers have it the worst when apartment hunting, as they typically face incredibly high broker fees. Huthunt wants to help. The free iOS-only app lets people browse through curated, no-fee apartments, and even lets you set up viewing appointments with partnered brokers. You can match with potential roommates and chat with them on Huthunt, and if you ever need more help, you can send requests in the Genie tab and the company will handle it.
Taxfyle
It’s the dreaded tax season, but perhaps this time around there won’t be a reason to fret. Taxfyle is an app that lets you take a picture of your tax documents, get a quote, and once you submit the work request, a CPA will prepare and file your taxes for you. Taxfyle even has your back from audits, as you are automatically enrolled in the company’s protection plan. The app has encrypted in-app messaging and data transfer, so your conversations with your personal CPA are kept safe.
LastPass
Popular password-manager app LastPass came out with a new app recently that lets you add two-factor authentication to your LastPass account. Now when you try to access websites you have used LastPass to secure, you can have an additional level of security with two-factor authentication. Pull up the app and it will generate a six-digit code for you to verify so you can log in. It’s also compatible with Google Authenticator, and has Android Wear support.
Playstation Video
Sony made a big move recently, releasing a video-streaming app for Playstation 3, PS4, and PS Vita owners that own an Android device. With Playstation Video, you can stream and watch TV shows and movies that you obtain from the Playstation Store to your Android-powered device. You can buy movies and episodes of shows through the app, and it also offers access to your PS Video library.
