Bored with the apps on your phone? Every week we go through the various app stores to find you new and fun apps to download. Check out this week’s top five, ranging from an app that helps you send secure emails, to one that aims to aid your personal development.

After two years in closed beta, ProtonMail finally opened its secure email service to public registration, and it launched an iOS and Android app at the same time. If you’re worried about someone snooping on your data, or just want to send emails securely, ProtonMail is one of the easiest ways to do it. You can create an account for free, and your emails will automatically be encrypted if you send them to other ProtonMail users. If not, you can manually encrypt them. There are paid accounts you can purchase for more features.

Podpolly

podpolly
Podpolly is a community-based podcasting app that lets you upload your own podcasts, however long you want, to communities within the app or to your followers. You can edit your podcasts and add sound effects, and add a picture to represent it. You can also comment on and “like” podcasts others have shared. It looks and feels similar to Instagram, except replace photographs with audio recordings.

Remente

remente

Nomwell

nomwell
If you find yourself adding names of restaurants to visit to a list, you should probably download Nomwell. Better yet, import that list to Nomwell, then you won’t have to re-type anything and you’ll have an easier time finding their precise locations. Nomwell makes it easy to keep track of your favorite restaurants and places that have been recommended to you, and you can also organize them into your own lists. If you have friends on the app, you can also see the places they recommend.

TaskRabbit

taskrabbit
If you haven’t heard of TaskRabbit — it essentially lets you ask people to complete tasks for you, with payment of course. The company just updated their iOS and Android app, so now you can expect to be paired with a “tasker” within five minutes after you have made your request. Your task will also be completed within 90 minutes, as opposed to a few days previously — that’s a big difference. Don’t worry, you can still schedule tasks if that’s your preference.

YouTube TV just got even better on iPhones and iPads
Multiview on YouTube TV on an iPad.

If you use the most popular live-streaming service on an iPhone or iPad, things just got even better. YouTube TV — which boasts more than 8 million subscribers — just pushed multiview live on Apple's mobile devices, as previously promised.

It works basically the same way it does on a television. YouTube TV picks the programs available in multiview, and you get them all at once, with audio coming from one of the shows. Tap another, and the audio switches. And just as before, you can get multiview for sports, news, business, or weather. (Though we definitely don't recommend watching four news channels at once in an election year.) It's just in time for March Madness, which is great, though we hope you'll be able to pick your own games instead of just sticking with the multiple viewing options YouTube TV gives. This will be great come fall, though, when the new season of NFL Sunday Ticket takes hold.

The 1Password password manager app for Android has just gotten a huge new update, which unlocks the use of passkeys through its app. Held by many as the future of secure authentication, passkeys are the next evolution of the password, and from today, you'll be able to use 1Password to create, manage, and unlock your accounts that use passkey authentication.

1Password is one of the world's most popular password managers, with over 700,000 passwords saved. But it clearly sees that the future is elsewhere, as it has been leading the charge on taking passkeys into the mainstream.
