At long last, Spotify’s iPad app has arrived

Spotify for iPad

Hooray! Spotify for iPad has arrived. The music streaming giant announced this morning the release of its hotly anticipated tablet portal, which is built especially for the third-generation iPad’s glistening Retina display.

You can download Spotify for iPad from the Apple App Store here.

In addition to Retina optimization, Spotify’s iPad app features a new “Now Playing” screen with high-definition cover art; a simplified search screen to find playlists, users, and music; trending song lists and other social features, like grouped messaging; and “gapless” playback and crossfade.

Another potentially useful feature (if you buy a lot of Apple products) is AirPlay integration, which allows you to stream music from your iPad to other AirPlay connected devices.

Of course, the only way to enjoy all these glorious, life-changing mobile features is to cough up the 10 bucks a month it costs to have a Spotify premium account, since only subscribers may use Spotify’s mobile apps. The good news is, if you’re just discovering Spotify for the first time, you can sign up a for a free premium trial.

We haven’t yet had a chance to get our hands on Spotify for iPad, but we’ll be testing it out soon. Check back later for our full hands-on impressions. In the mean time, check out this promo video for the app below:
