5 best cases to keep your HTC One A9 looking like new

A decent set of specs and a smooth, attractive design make HTC’s latest smartphone quite tempting. The 5-inch screen will be big enough for many people, and there’s enough power under the hood to satisfy the average user. But the svelte, all-metal body of the One A9 looks a lot better without chips, scrapes, and dings in it. You might consider snagging some protection. Time to take a look at the best HTC One A9 cases and covers.

HTC Dot View Ice Case ($50)

We don’t always recommend official cases from phone manufacturers because they tend to be overpriced, and there are usually better alternatives, but the Dot View Ice case from HTC provides all-round protection and some interesting features. Your One A9 snaps into a transparent shell that leaves the design on display. The dot matrix on the front cover shows you the time, calls, notifications, and more without opening up. It does also support the automatic sleep/wake function, and there are even some special retro games to go with it.

Incipio Octane Case ($25)

You get decent drop protection with this dual-material design that combines a malleable TPU bumper with a tough, transparent polycarbonate back plate. The bumper is textured for added grip, and it comes in black, pink, blue, or purple. The openings for the camera and ports are present and correct, and you can feel the button covers without having to look. There’s a subtle Incipio logo towards the bottom right of the frosted back panel.

Krusell Boras Folio Wallet Case ($23)

This black, leather-look case is actually polyurethane with a microfiber lining. It can act as a wallet replacement, with three credit card slots and a money pocket in the cover. There’s a magnetic closure flap that wraps round securely and a speaker cut-out that allows you to talk to callers with the case closed. You can also bend the cover back to prop your A9 in landscape view. Inside the cover, there’s a hard plastic shell with generous cut-outs that your phone snaps into.

Case Mate Naked Tough Case ($35)

If you’re deflated at the prospect of covering up the A9’s gorgeous design, but you fear a fall at some point is inevitable, then this offering from Case Mate could be the perfect compromise. It combines a transparent hard shell with a shock-absorbing bumper, so it can handle knocks and drops without completely masking the A9 inside. The openings are precise, and there’s a lip round the screen to protect it if it lands face down. The button covers are shiny chrome, there’s a small logo on the back, and the brand name on the spine, but other than that, this is a plain, clear case.

Olixar Flexishield Case ($11)

Sometimes you just want simplicity, and HTC One A9 cases don’t come much simpler than this. It’s a flexible, translucent gel case. You’ll find that it’s slim, comfortable to hold, and it enhances grip. There’s a protective lip around the screen, and button covers that you can find without looking. The cut-outs for the ports and camera are accurate. You can get this case in purple, blue, black, or frost white. The only real detail to speak of is a small Olixar logo at the bottom on the back.

That’s all the HTC One A9 cases and covers we have for now, but we’ll be adding more to this roundup in future.

The best Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 cases: 8 best ones right now
Photo of official Samsung cases for the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 was revealed at Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2023, and it shows that Samsung is still serious about a foldable future. Brand new to the Flip range this year is a revamped outer screen, with a big 3.4-inch size and the ability to do even more than it could before. While you're still going to want to open the phone to do most of your business (or just scroll through Instagram), the new outer screen means you can stay on top of your notifications while keeping your phone folded and safe.

But as cool as all that is, accidents still happen, and even the best smartphones can't withstand a drop onto concrete without at least some damage. While keeping your phone folded and using the outer screen can help to keep it safe from hazards, the outside can still be chipped, cracked, or even shattered. That's where cases come in. Here are the best Galaxy Z Flip 5 cases you can buy right now.
