The mobile world has all but acknowledged that BlackBerry 10 is the make or break moment for Research in Motion (or just “BlackBerry” now, actually). BlackBerry fell out of the spotlight as smartphones became more prevalent and the operating system fell behind. BB 10 doesn’t just have to play catch up, it has to slingshot ahead if it wants a chance to compete with those that toppled its throne once already. With the launch of BB 10 comes new handsets that break the mold of the usual BlackBerry phone including the new flagship phone, the Z10. Now that it’s officially been revealed, it’s time for the Z10 and its new OS to take on the top dogs that had left Research in Motion in the dust. Will the BlackBerry Z10 have what it takes to steal back some of the market share that was once rightfully BlackBerry’s? Check out the specs below to see how the new handset stacks up against the current kings of mobile and decide for yourself.

Conclusion: Just going by the numbers, it appears BlackBerry’s Z10 is able to hold its own. The screen offers a high definition, pixel-dense experience that puts it on par if not above the competition. It’s processor and RAM indicate it will be able to keep up with the computing power of its competition. The ability to connect to 4G LTE networks is a must now, and the Z10 meets the need. Obviously the most interesting difference on the chart, though, is the OS. Seeing how BlackBerry 10 stacks up against iOS and Android will come down to actually experiencing it, but what we know looks promising. With features like BlackBerry Flow, the improved BBM, and the Time Shift camera function, it appears BlackBerry is up for the fight.

I want the iPhone 16 to steal these 6 Galaxy S24 features
The back of the yellow Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

Samsung’s January Unpacked event revealed the company's next-generation phones, the Galaxy S24 lineup. This includes the base model S24, the larger S24 Plus, and the top-of-the-line S24 Ultra.

The S24 lineup is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and has a smattering of new AI features. Samsung also seems to have copied Apple by giving the S24 and S24 Plus a flat frame instead of the rounded one used previously, as well as a matte look. And, of course, the S24 Ultra getting a titanium frame just months after the iPhone 15 Pro isn't lost on anyone.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra beats the iPhone in the worst way possible
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra in its launch colors.

Everything seems to be more expensive these days, but it has always been a fairly solid and accepted rule that the biggest, most powerful Apple iPhone model — currently the iPhone 15 Pro Max — would be the most expensive non-folding smartphone you could buy, even in its most basic configuration.

However, in a continued effort to steal Apple’s thunder -- not being content with the 5x optical zoom camera and titanium frame -- Samsung has priced the Galaxy S24 Ultra higher than its prequel, giving it the dubious honor of being even more expensive than an iPhone.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may steal this iPhone 15 camera feature
An alleged photo of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is one of the most anticipated smartphone launches of the coming year. As we approach the likely launch date, more rumors and leaks about the top-of-the-line Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra have surfaced. The latest comes from leaker Ahmed Qwaider on X, formerly Twitter.

This new rumor suggests that Samsung has taken inspiration from the iPhone 15 series and will feature a 24MP default camera resolution on the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This is a significant upgrade from the current Galaxy S23 Ultra, which has a default camera resolution of 12MP.
