Cute Mobile To Use InterVideo Media Codec

By incorporating InterVideo’s multimedia codec technologies, Cute Mobile delivers high quality images, video and audio on 3 Mega pixel camera phones. The product will start to appear in the mobilehandset market before the end of this year.

“InterVideo’s MPEG-4 codec technology provides 30 frames per second encoding and decoding at VGA resolution,” said Victor Chen, President, of Cute Mobile. “For our mobile phone customers, that means they can enjoy a smooth, crystal-clear images without any skipping or jerkiness. This experience significantly increases the value of the handset devices we are creating.”

Steve Ro, InterVideo’s CEO, credited the engineers at both companies for their collaboration in making the product. “Many of us are not satisfied with the quality of today’s 100K or 300K pixel camera phones. The new designs from Cute Mobile have turned the camera phone into a truly useful product. MP3 playback offers high quality audio-on-the-go, while MPEG-4 video encoding and decoding of full VGA resolution at up to 30 frames per second expands it to a new dimension,” he noted.

Offering compliance with the MPEG-4 Simple Profile, InterVideo’s MPEG-4 technology provides high-quality video at low bit rates. Users can choose from different video capture profiles to control the quality and recording time: from 3GPP/3GPP2 format up to VGA (640×480) 30fps.

Video from MPEG4-enabled digital cameras can be combined with InterVideo’s award-winning PC multimedia software such as WinDVD(R) for video playback and WinDVD Creator(TM) for transferring, editing and burning to DVDs.

OEMs and system integrators can obtain licensing and customer support information about InterVideo’s MPEG-4 codec technology by contacting InterVideo at 510-651-0888 or visiting InterVideo’s web site,
