German blog HTCInside (if you didn’t pick that up from the picture) has published the first supposed specs and pictures of a massive new Windows Phone from HTC. Named the HTC Eternity, the new device will be one of the first to run Windows Phone Mango, the promising next version of Windows Phone 7, which will have turn-by-turn navigation and a host of other needed and desired new features. More interesting than its ties to Mango, the new phone will have a massive 4.7-inch screen, almost as large as Acer’s monster phone and bigger than the 4.5-inch Samsung Infuse 4G. The phone may end up being too large for some users, though we’re excited that HTC keeps pushing it to the limit.

According to the brief stats sheet, the new phone is CDMA and GSM compatible, so it could hit AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile, though we’d lean toward T-Mob and AT&T because it lacks 4G LTE capabilities, which is fast becoming a requirement on Verizon’s network.

More specs:

  • Processor: 1.5GHz single-core from Qualcomm
  • Cameras: 8MP rear with LED flash and 720p video capture, and 1.3MP front
  • Internal storage: 16GB
  • RAM: 512MB
  • Screen: Super WVGA (800×480) Super LCD

One problem we had with the 4.5-inch Samsung Infuse, and something to think about here, is whether a WVGA screen will look good on such a large phone. Smaller 4.3-inch phones are coming out with 960×540 pixel screens these days. Hopefully the Eternity looks good next to one of these devices.

We have no word on when it will ship, but it will be one of the first Windows Phone Mango devices, so likely somewhere between September and November.

Nomad’s new iPhone case and Apple Watch band may be its coolest yet
Nomad Glow 2.0 Sport Case and Apple Watch Sport Band in daylight.

Though the world of Apple accessories is a dime a dozen, one of the better brands that you can buy is Nomad. Nomad has a variety of amazing leather Apple Watch bands and cases, as well as non-leather options, too. In August 2023, Nomad released a one-of-a-kind Glow in the Dark Apple Watch band that sold out in about 12 hours.

Since that Glow in the Dark band was a limited edition, no one was sure if Nomad was going to re-release it, and this explains the high resale prices you’ll find on eBay. But Nomad just released the Glow 2.0 Apple Watch Sport Band as well as a new Glow 2.0 Sport Case for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. And, yes, they're just as wonderful as before.
