HTC phone to reportedly feature dedicated Facebook button

Facebook Phone MockupIt’s not quite the long-rumored Facebook phone, but HTC is reportedly working on developing a phone that features deep integration with the social network, according to The Financial Times. There’s even a button that when pushed will access users’ Facebook accounts.  According to the report, HTC may choose to unveil the device at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) being held next week in Barcelona, Spain.

The news comes as handset developers are showing increased interest in basing devices on the world’s most popular social network. Earlier this week, INQ unveiled the Cloud Touch and Cloud Q, two Facebook-optimized smartphones running on Android. Both phones feature elements of Facebook integrated directly into the home screen.

For the moment, details about HTC’s “Facebook phone” are shaky at best. It’s not clear if the button will be incorporated into the touchscreen or will be a separate physical button. It’s suspected that the smartphone will be sporting Google’s Android OS. We’ll likely find out more next week at MWC where HTC is also expected to unveil the 7-inch Flyer tablet running on Android 2.3.

Newly-leaked images from tipster Evan Blass suggest the iPhone SE 4 might come with the Dynamic Island after all. Blass also shared code snippets that indicate several more yet-to-be-released Apple products, including the 11-inch iPad Air with M3, the 13-inch iPad Air with M3, the iPad 11th generation, and the iPhone SE 4th generation. Blass followed up his initial post with supposed visual assets for the devices, and notably enough, the iPhone SE 4 shows a Dynamic Island.

The Dynamic Island is faint. If you want to get a better look at it, we suggest making the image full-screen. Blass said he had color-corrected the image to make it more visible. However, Blass specifically stated that he had edited the image to make it more visible, so it's confirmed that, in this image at least, the phone has the island.

Right now, the iPhone 6 holds the record for Apple's thinnest model at 6.9mm, so the iPhone 17 Air will be a major reduction in size.

Mark Zuckerberg appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast earlier this week, and he had a lot of words to say about Apple. In particular, the Meta chief targeted the company’s innovative streak and the cumbersome ecosystem weaved around it.

“They haven’t invented anything great in a while. It’s like Steve Jobs invented the iPhone, and now they’re just kind of sitting on it 20 years later,” Zuckerberg told Rogan.
