HTC Windows Phone 8 roadmap leaked: One X-like ‘Zenith’ coming

Windows Phone 8 home screen closeupSomeone at HTC is leaking specs left and right. We just heard about the HTC One XXL, and now three upcoming Windows Phone 8 handsets have leaked. We only know their codenames, but it looks like HTC will release a high-end, middle, and low-end phone toward the end of 2012, much like its HTC One X, One S, and One V Android lineup, which have launched all throughout 2012. All of these phones will supposedly take advantage of the new features of Windows Phone 8 announced on Wednesday.

The Verge has leaked the following specs. These are rumors. Don’t pin your hopes on them.

  • Zenith: This will be the flagship phone with a 4.7-inch 720p Super LCD 2 screen, 8-megapixel rear camera, 42Mbps HSPA+ (possibly LTE for US market), NFC, and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.
  • Accord: This will be the mid-range device with a 4.3-inch 720p Super LCD 2 screen, 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording, NFC, 1GB of RAM, and a dual-core processor.
  • Rio: This is the One V of the group, with a 4-inch 480 x 800 pixel (WVGA) screen, 5-megapixel rear camera with 720p video recording, 512MB of RAM, and a lower-end Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor.

The Rio and Accord are tentatively scheduled (again, a rumor) for October, while the Zenith is simply set for release sometime in the last three months of the year. The launches will likely depend on when Microsoft releases Windows Phone 8 and when Nokia has its new line of handsets ready.
