Lenovo has announced the Vibe Z2 Pro, its latest smartphone, which has been the subject of several rumors over the past few weeks. The company isn’t leaving success to chance either, and has not only stuffed the phone full of the latest tech, but has wrapped it all up inside a sleek metallic body.

The Vibe Z2 Pro is massive. It has a 6-inch screen, up from 5.5-inches on the first Vibe Z, and boasts a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution, equalling the LG G3. However, the larger size of the display means the pixel density is slightly lower than LG’s flagship smartphone, and the Vibe Z2 Pro comes in at 490ppi, falling a little behind the G3’s superior 538ppi.

Powering the phone is a quad-core, 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor with 3GB of RAM, and the battery is said to be a monster 4,000mAh, which should mean the phone won’t give up too early in the day. A 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization sits on the rear, and Lenovo says it has an effective auto-scene recognition mode, and an all-manual setting for total control. The promo video also highlights its ability to take great low-light photos.

We’re still waiting for the complete spec sheet to be made public, but expect 4G LTE connectivity, a dual-SIM option, and a 4K video shooting mode to feature. Android 4.4 KitKat is installed, and Lenovo has put its own user interface, called Vibe UI 2.0, over the top. Lenovo’s Vibe Z2 Pro’s 7.7mm thin unibody has a “metallic brushed weave” design, which not mean it’s made of metal, but a metal-like material, something like the LG G3.

It’ll be available in Titanium, Black, or Gold colors, and is all set to go on sale in September. Lenovo hasn’t released many of its previous smartphones internationally, so we shouldn’t expect the Vibe Z2 Pro to be any different. If it wants to change all that, an exciting phone like this is the one with which to do so.

CONTINUE TO PAGE TWO FOR A RECAP OF ALL THE LENOVO VIBE Z2 PRO RUMORS

An executive at Lenovo has teased us with news of a new smartphone, which should launch at the beginning of August. The phone is tentatively known as the K920, making it a sequel to the K900, which made quite a splash when it was launched last year. Lenovo is a company with serious ambition in the mobile world, having purchased Motorola from Google recently. When it arrives, the K920 may be called the Vibe Z2 Pro, and is all set to be the company’s flagship phone for 2014.

A teaser image was posted to the Weibo social networking site by Lenovo’s marketing manager, and shows the top rear corner of the device, revealing a 16-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization, and a dual-LED flash unit. Perhaps more interestingly, the body appears to be made from metal, something which could be partially confirmed by the reference to “304” in the Chinese text. Does this mean 304 stainless steel?

The rest of the text is a mystery to those who can’t read Chinese, but a previous leak did provide a comprehensive list of possible features. The screen could be a massive 6-inch panel, with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution. This would put it in direct competition with the excellent LG G3, but by making the display larger than the G3’s 1440p screen, it will sport a slightly lower pixel density.

A Snapdragon 801 chip running at 2.5GHz and supported by 3GB of RAM could power the K920, and a total of 32GB storage space is expected. The leak also mentioned the 16-megapixel rear camera, plus a 5-megapixel front cam too. The OS is probably going to be Android 4.4 KitKat.

Lenovo should reveal the K920/Vibe Z2 Pro at an event on August 5, but like previous phones released under the Lenovo name, we’re not expecting a wide international release. This is a shame, as we’ve liked Lenovo’s smartphones when we’ve had a chance to try them in the past.

Is the Oura Ring waterproof?
The Oura Ring Horizon resting on a green succulent plant.

The Oura Ring is a highly sought-after wearable device available in different styles and price ranges. It allows users to track their sleep and recovery, stress levels, illnesses, and fitness routines -- and it even provides features specific to women's health. With so many features,  you might wonder whether the watch is waterproof. Let's find out.
Is the Oura Ring waterproof?
Technically, the Oura Ring is not waterproof. Instead, it's water-resistant up to 330 feet (100 meters). This is the case for most modern gadgets. You'll often find water resistance protection on products, which is good, but it's not exactly the same as being waterproof. But what does that really mean? We explain below.
Can you go swimming with the Oura Ring?
The Oura Ring has a certain level of protection that allows you to wear it while swimming, showering, and snorkeling. However, wearing the Oura Ring during scuba diving or when there is a risk of extended water submersion or extreme pressure is not advisable. Oura recommends avoiding wearing the ring in such scenarios to ensure its longevity and proper functioning.

Oura further explains: "The Oura Ring operating temperature ranges from [-10 to 52 degrees Celsius and 14 to 125 degrees Fahrenheit]. You can safely wear your ring in the shower, hot tubs, saunas, ice baths, and cryotherapy tanks. However, extended exposure to extreme temperatures (below 0°C/32°F or above 35°C/95°F) may lead to battery damage."
How does this compare to other smart rings?
Of Oura's chief competitors, only the Ultrahuman Ring Air provides similar water resistance. By contrast, the Amovan Smart Ring only provides water resistance up to 50 meters. The Oura Ring offers the same level of protection as the Apple Watch Ultra, making it an excellent alternative to smartwatches. However, it surpasses the Apple Watch Series 2 or later and the Google Pixel Watch 2, which can only resist water up to 50 meters.

Every Android tablet we’re expecting in 2024
The home screen on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.

It’s an exciting time for Android tablets. Into the vacuum left in 2023 by Apple’s first-ever dearth of new iPads stepped two new contenders offering distinct takes on what a tablet should be, while Samsung’s venerable Tab S9 lineup raised the bar by cementing the position of its largest tablet and bringing AMOLED screens to the entire family.

There’s no reason to believe that this year will be any less interesting as Samsung continues to up its game while Google and OnePlus try to refine their initial first-generation efforts into more mature products.

OnePlus surprises us with dazzling Android tablet and smartwatch
A press image of the OnePlus Watch 2 Nordic Blue edition.

OnePlus has launched a new Android tablet and a desirable special edition of the OnePlus Watch 2, both in beautiful color schemes that make us want them both right now. Unfortunately, that won't be easy if you live in the U.S.. The company has announced the OnePlus Pad Go tablet and OnePlus Watch 2 Nordic Blue edition smartwatch at an event in Helsinki, Finland, and both are currently only destined for a European release.

If you recognize the OnePlus Pad Go's name , it’s because the tablet was released in India last year, and it comes in the same stunning Twin Mint color scheme, which is as trendy as it gets. Although the company hasn't been forthcoming with all the details about the tablet, the specifications are unlikely to have changed from the model released in India. It has an 11.3-inch screen with a 2.4K (that’s 2408 x 1720 pixels) resolution, which it claims is currently the highest available on an Android tablet, and a 90Hz refresh rate.
