Lenovo ThinkPad tablet goes on sale August 23 for $479.99

Thinkpad tablet Honeycomb dockIt seems as though we are reporting about a new Honeycomb tablet being released every day. Today’s tablet is the Lenovo ThinkPad, which will become available on August 23. Lenovo has positioned the ThinkPad as a business-savvy tablet with “all the security, access and power you demand.” We have yet to see exactly how Lenovo lives up to those claims, but would love to find out.

One feature this tablet has that helps it stand out is that it comes with a stylus for taking notes on the screen. The website does not talk about any bundled apps that can take advantage of the stylus, like those installed on the HTC Flyer. Unlike the Flyer, the stylus is included in the price of the ThinkPad, which might help explain the price.

We reported about the possibility of an Android tablet price war, but Lenovo does not appear to be joining in on that fight. As other companies are starting to lower their entry-level tablet prices to $400 and below, Lenovo is going the other direction, up to a $479.99 starting price. To be fair, that’s still a drop; when Lenovo first announced the ThinkPad, it said it would be sold for $499.

Lenovo is also launching a few accessories alongside of the ThinkPad. You can buy a folio-style case that has a built-in keyboard, which might mean the Asus Transformer might finally have some keyboard competition. Lenovo has been making some of the best laptop keyboards for several years, and if this keyboard can rival those it might be a game changer in the Honeycomb tablet war.

The ThinkPad has a stylus, security features, keyboard dock, and is officially compatible with the Netflix app, what more could you want?
