The Nexus 5 has done its best to hog the Google product limelight ever since the Nexus 7’s announcement earlier this year, while the inevitable Nexus 10 tablet has managed to stay relatively secret. That could have all changed today, as according to PhoneArena.com, it has been supplied with a screenshot showing the Nexus 10 listed on the Google Play store.
This has given us a look at the tablet itself, although there’s not much to see in the face-on image, plus more interestingly, a list of potential specifications. The screen will apparently measure just under 10.1-inches, matching the first Nexus 10, and the resolution is identical at 2560 x 1600 pixels, giving a 300ppi density. A Gorilla Glass 3 covering should protect it from accidental damage.
The Samsung-built 2012 Nexus 10 was powered by an Exynos chip, but for the 2013 model, Google may have insisted on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, bringing it into line with the second generation Nexus 7 tablet. However, the amount of RAM could see a boost to 3GB, a figure also seen in the Galaxy Note 3. Flip the tablet over, and the leak says an 8-megapixel camera lens will be fitted to the rear, and inside a massive 9500mAh battery could be found.
If the picture proves to be accurate, the screen bezel won’t be quite as huge this time around, and the specifications suggest the overall size will be smaller too, with the tablet shrinking to 7.9mm thick and 584 grams in weight. Android 4.4 should be the operating system installed, just like the Nexus 5 smartphone.
It’s difficult to say whether all this is accurate. While the suggested spec isn’t outlandish, it’s impossible to check to see if the Google Play listing is still in place. Why? At the time of writing the devices store itself isn’t accessible, which could indicate Google is rectifying its “Error.” Remember, Google “accidentally” leaked the Nexus 5 in exactly the same way. There may not be long to wait for its official unveiling, as all could be revealed on November 1.
