Sample pictures from the iPhone 4S’ new 8 megapixel camera

A number of features found on Apple’s newest iPhone deserve some attention and the new 8 megapixel on offer is definitely one of them.

The new camera will offer a dramatic increase in resolution, details and image clarity, thanks to the 8 megapixel camera. An all new custom lens uses five precision elements that shape incoming light, increasing image clarity by making them sharper and larger. Advanced hybrid infrared filters also help keep harmful IR light out, providing more accurate light and colors.

The new 4S also features a refined LED flash that automatically kicks in when needed, so even if you are under the stars or under the sun, your pictures will come out much more clearly, and of course this feature can be turned off too.

With the implementation of the A5 chip and its built-in image signal processor similar to DSLR cameras, the iPhone 4S experiences zero shutter lag, offering a faster camera, perfect for catching all those precious moments on the go.

Pictures aren’t the only thing getting a boost, the Camera app can now be opened right from the lock screen, eliminating the need to fumble through various screens before you get to it. In fact, images from video can now be easily captured–and for the first time–edit your photos on your phone, with the option to crop, rotate, enhance and remove red eye right on the iPhone.

Finally, Photo Stream in iCloud automatically sends new photos to your other devices like the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, or PC.
