The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is official, and we’ve already been hands on with the South Korean firm’s impressive slimline flagship smartphone.

This is Samsung’s slimmest ever Galaxy S smartphone, at just 5.8mm thick. It isn’t the thinnest smartphone in history, but it’s a milestone Samsung is making a big deal about.

For those curious about what this slender handset has to offer, we have everything you need to know about the Galaxy S25 Edge right here.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: release date and price

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge price is $1,099 (£1,099) for the 256GB variant, while the 512GB model will set you back $1,199 (£1,199). A princely sum for a slimline smartphone which has a smaller battery and fewer cameras than its S25 siblings.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge release date is set for May 30, 2025, although pre-orders are already open. That date is quite some time after its initial tease back in January at the Galaxy S25 launch, and over two weeks from its own official unveiling on May 12.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: design

Okay, let’s address the elephant in the room first. The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is 5.8mm thick, making it 1.4mm thinner than the standard Galaxy S25 (which at 7.2mm is slightly thinner than both the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra).

It’s also comfortably thinner than the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16e – which both measure 7.8mm thick – although Apple is rumored to have its own slimline handset in the works in the form of the iPhone 17 Air.

With its 6.7-inch display, the S25 Edge is 158.2mm tall and 75.6mm wide – a close match to the Galaxy S25 Plus. Yet the lightweight body means the S25 Edge tips the scales at 163g, which is actually 1g heavier than the standard S25 (which does have a smaller screen).

The S25 Edge boasts a titanium frame, IP68 water and dust resistance which means it should survive a brief dunk in the bath, and Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection on the rear, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the front.

There are three Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge colors for you to choose from: Titanium Jetblack (not a typo), Titanium Silver and Titanium Icyblue (also not a typo).

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: display

The Galaxy S25 Edge display matches the S25 Plus, with a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen offering a 3120 x 1440 QHD+ resolution, a peak brightness of 2,600 nits, and a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz.

Like the S25 Plus and S25 Ultra, the screen supports Dynamic AMOLED 2X and ProScaler. Slender bezels run the circumference of the screen, while a single selfie camera is located centrally at the top of the display.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: performance

The Galaxy S25 Edge comes equipped with Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset couple with 12GB of RAM. There are two storage variants to choose from, with the base model packing 256GB while a pricier 512GB option is also available.

There’s enough power available to gamers then, and the Galaxy S25 Edge offers ray tracing and Vulkan optimisation while a vapor chamber and new thermal interface material (TIM) should keep the phone cooler during gaming sessions.

As for the operating system, the Galaxy S25 Edge runs Android 15 with Samsung’s One UI 7 overlay on the top, and it will get at least seven years of Android upgrades after Samsung announced its new commitment at the start of this year.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: battery

There was lots of speculation surrounding the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge battery in the lead up to launch, and unsurprisingly it packs the smallest battery in the S25 series at 3,900mAh.

That’s only slightly smaller than the 4,000mAh battery in the S25, but the Edge does have a larger display. Samsung is claiming all-day battery life and up to 24 hours of video playback on a single charge, but you’ll have to wait for our Galaxy S25 Edge review to find out if it’s able to back up these claims.

Wired charging speeds max out at 25W, which is a little disappointing considering the S25 Plus offers charging speeds up to 45W and the price of the S25 Edge. There’s also support for 15W wireless charging and reverse wireless charging (allowing the S25 Edge to wireless charge another device).

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: cameras

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge comes with three cameras in total, one on the front and two on the rear.

The front-facing selfie camera isn’t particularly interesting – it’s a 12MP offering, the same as you’ll find on the rest of the S25 series.

Round the back and things are more intriguing as the Galaxy S25 Edge has fewer rear cameras than all three of its S25 siblings. Yet the main camera comprises a mighty 200MP sensor, alongside an ultra-wide 12MP snapper.

The main camera has a 2x optical zoom, and up to a 10x AI zoom allowing you to get closer to your subjects, plus there’s the ability to record 8K video, 4K video at 120fps, and LOG video.

iPhone 17 Air: everything you need to know
Alleged concept render of the iPhone 17 Air in black.

The iPhone 17 Air is set to become the first iPhone that's as light as a feather -- or light as air, as its name suggests. Not because it's as tiny as the oldest iPhone models, but rather it's because it's as thin as the MacBook Air that inspired it and thinner than the rest of the iPhone 17 line.

Although the iPhone 17 Air is months away from being officially announced by Apple, let alone the standard iPhone 17, the leaks and rumors swirling around the ultra-slim model have iPhone users excited about the prospect of holding it in their hands and anxious about its fragility because of its thinness. Here's everything you need to know about the iPhone 17 Air.
