That’s according to a report in BuzzFeed that relies on “sources familiar with Apple’s plans” — presumably not Tim Cook, but someone with at least some access inside the company. What’s more, Apple is said to be rolling all of its iPhone and iPad announcements into one event this year, whereas in the past it’s saved the new iPad reveals until October. With sales of the tablet dwindling it’s possible that Apple doesn’t think it’s worth its own event now.
But that’s not all, BuzzFeed says: The event is also going to see the introduction of the long-awaited Apple TV revamp, something we’ve been expecting all year. Another device that’s been speculated on for quite some time is the iPad Pro — BuzzFeed says that this remains a “wildcard,” so we may or may not see it next month.
“This is Apple we’re talking about, and with a month left to go before the event plans can shift,” admits BuzzFeed, so don’t book the day off work just yet.
If Apple does decide to roll all of its fall product announcements into one single event, expect the hype levels to be off the charts — there’s going to be a serious amount of ground to cover. Although the iPads are in line to get more minor upgrades this time around (iOS 9 will bring some handy new features of its own), most of the focus is likely to be on the iPhone, with Force Touch and an upgraded camera said to be in the pipeline.
