Sprint: The iPhone 4S will have unlimited data plan

iphone-4-sprintAs expected, Sprint has confirmed that it will offer an unlimited data plan for the iPhone 4S (as well as for the iPhone 4, which it will also carry). The company tells All Things D there will be a $69.99 unlimited data and text message option (which will also include 450 calling minutes). There will also be an $89.99 plan that offers all of that but with 900 calling minutes, and a $99.99 plan with unlimited access to all of these features. Keep in mind that Sprint charges a $10 premium data add-on fee for smartphone users.

Prior to the iPhone 4S launch, Sprint announced it would be keeping its unlimited data plans for the time being–however, these unlimited plans have an important footnote. There have been rumblings that the carrier’s plans will be subject to change when it announced its 4G LTE network, which will be later this week.

Like AT&T and Verizon, Sprint will try to capitalize on offering the iPhone without restrictions. Also like AT&T and Sprint, this will likely be a temporary deal. Less than a month after introducing the iPhone, Verizon cut its unlimited plan for the smartphone and began tiered pricing. AT&T offered the option for three years, but struggled with bandwidth hogs and began throttling heavy data users.

Verizon was able to secure a bit of spotlight when it first began carrying the iPhone, in part for its unlimited plan, and Sprint is likely to as well. How effective this will be and how long it will last, however, remain to be seen.

5 Android camera features that I need to have on my iPhone
iPhone 14 Pro and Google Pixel 7 Pro.

One of my favorite things to do with my iPhone 14 Pro is to take photos. Whether it’s part of my attempt to be artsy by snapping spontaneous moments with my husband and daughter, or just capturing the magic at Disneyland, I have a ton of photos. Though I don’t have time to edit every single one, I do like to spend time making edits on my favorites just to improve how they look before I post them on social media. But the built-in tools on the iPhone for taking photos and editing them are, well, lacking.

I’ve been testing a few different Android devices since I joined Digital Trends, and let me tell you — it’s been a trip. I’ve discovered so many new photo and camera tools on various Android devices that just show how much Apple is behind in that regard, despite being one of the most popular devices for mobile photography.

Apple iPhone SE 2024 leaks

The first renders of Apple's iPhone SE (fourth generation) have leaked courtesy of the somewhat reliable Jon Prosser. These renders show a device that's reminiscent of the now discontinued but immensely popular iPhone XR, with the company moving away from the small iPhone to a more standard size. Apple's next iPhone SE should make its debut in 2024, according to other reports.

Apple's iPhone SE has often used the chassis of older iPhones. The initial SE looked a lot like the iPhone 5, while the 2020 and 2022 iPhone SE had the iPhone 8's design. Now, Apple is reportedly moving to more modern iPhones, banishing the home button, and bringing in the notch.

The next iPhone SE may have the biggest design change we’ve ever seen
Yellow iPhone XR resting on a bench

Apple is reportedly bringing back the iPhone XR's design for the next iPhone SE. The report comes from noted analyst Ross Young at Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSSC) via MacRumors.  Young had previously believed that the fourth-gen iPhone SE would have an Android-style hole-punch cutout on the front and a display size ranging between 5.7 inches to 6.1 inches.

Young now expects that Apple will stick to a 6.1-inch design, while also bringing the notch to an iPhone SE model for the first time. The phone is expected to be based on an iPhone XR, with Apple keeping the iPhone SE's rear camera as a solo act for the fourth year running. There's also reportedly no OLED or ProMotion expected here either. And with the notch making an appearance, we can safely assume the next iPhone SE will support Face ID instead of Touch ID. There's simply no space for the traditional Touch ID sensor on the iPhone XR's body, and recent reports from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg note that Apple has no appetite for building Touch ID into the power button on iPhones as it does on iPads.
