T-Mobile has announced the new myTouch 4G Slide, claiming that the HTC-built handset sports the most advanced camera available in any smartphone: an 8 megapixel resolution, zero shutter lag, excellent low-light performance, and easy panorama, HDR, and burst modes so users can quickly capture events and special moments. Plus, the myTouch 4G slide runs Android 2.3, features a slide-out QWERTY keypad, and a 1.2 GHz processor.

“Knowing that the best camera is the one you’ve got with you, we set out to create a new best-in-class smartphone that allows our customers to leave their cameras at home,” said T-Mobile USA senior VP of marketing Andrew Sherrard, in a statement. “Our newest myTouch device takes capturing and sharing memories to a new level by combining high-quality smartphone hardware with features that customers would expect from a top-of-the-line digital camera.”

The myTouch 4G Slide camera features a wide aperture lens (ƒ/2.2), a dual-LED flash, and zero shutter lag so users can be sure they’re capturing the exact moment when they snap a picture. The camera also features a SweepShot panorama mode for capturing a panorama in a single motion, ClearShot HDR for high-contrast lighting shots, and a burst mode for capturing action. The camera can also shoot 1080p high-definition video and record audio at the same time: users can also edit videos directly on the phone.

As a handset the myTouch 4G slide features a 3.7-inch touchscreen display, Android 2.3 with HTC Sense 3.0 running on top of it, along with a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm SnapDragon processor—and the whole thing runs on T-Mobile’s “4G” HSPA+ network for mobile broadband capability. T-Mobile is also pre-loading a bunch of communications and entertainment apps, including Netflix and YouTube, along with Qik-powered T-Mobile Video Chat and Bobsled-powered Group Text.

T-Mobile will put the myTouch 4G Slider on sale in July for $199.99 with a two-year service contract; it’ll be available with black or khaki cases.

The Galaxy Note 10+ 5G is the first phone to support T-Mobile’s 600MHz spectrum
Samsung Galaxy Note 10 Plus 5G

The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is finally available, alongside Samsung's latest 5G phone, the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G. At launch, the Galaxy Note 10+ 5G will only be available on Verizon, but eventually, it'll make its way to other carriers too. And, when that happens, the T-Mobile variant will be the first phone to leverage T-Mobile's powerful 600MHz spectrum, according to a new tweet from T-Mobile chief technology officer Neville Ray.

5G is often associated with millimeter-wave frequencies, which are the ultra-high frequencies that can transmit a lot of data at shorter distances. But carriers are also building out other frequencies with 5G too, such as the low-band frequencies that can travel further distances, and the mid-band frequencies that offer a compromise between the two. T-Mobile's 600MHz frequency band is one of those low-band frequencies that's able to travel much longer distances than mmWave frequencies.

mobvoi ticwatch pro 4glte review 4g lte 20

Mobvoi's Ticwatch series are among your best choices for an affordable smartwatch with basic fitness tracking features running Google's Wear OS platform. But it doesn't just offer budget models -- the TicWatch Pro is notable for its sleek look, great price, and extremely long battery life. Now there's a new TicWatch Pro in town, and it's rocking a 4G/LTE connection -- though the network access won't be enabled until a month after launch.

Despite that hiccup, there's a lot to explore here. Here's everything you need to know about the TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE, and check out our hands-on review for more in-depth impressions.
4G/LTE connection
The TicWatch Pro 4G/LTE's biggest new feature is right there in the name -- thanks to the ability to connect to 4G mobile networks, the new TicWatch is capable of functioning independently of a smartphone. Or rather, it'll eventually have that ability. Unfortunately, the feature won't be enabled on launch due to compliance issues with Verizon's 4G network. Instead, it will be turned on a month after the phone launches, on August 10. Until then, you'll still be able to use the watch on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Will 5G fix America’s rural broadband woes? We asked the experts
best tiny houses

Rural Americans are by far the most under-served population when it comes to broadband access. A 2018 FCC report found that 98 percent of Americans in urban areas had access to a broadband connection, yet only 69 percent of rural Americans do. And the reason why is just what you'd expect: profitability.

Fixed broadband providers see rural America as a losing proposition, a drag on the bottom line. The infrastructure investment required is substantial, so today's modern broadband often ends outside of the far suburbs, leaving rural Americans with their smartphones as their only alternative.
