T-Mobile USA announced today that the HTC Amaze 4G will soon be available on its network. The unveiling was made by T-Mobile chief marketing officer Colde Brodman at the GigaOm Mobilize 2011 conference.
The HTC Amaze 4G has two high-profile selling points. The first is its connectivity. The handset can support T-Mobile’s recently upgraded HSPA+ network, which has connections speeds up to 42Mbps. The second main perk of the Amaze 4G is its camera – 8 megapixels, a dedicated button for snapping still images, as well as a separate button for shooting full 1080p high-resolution video. A backside illuminated sensor gives the phone’s camera increased ability to shoot quality photos in low light conditions. And T-Mobile claims that the device has “zero shutter lag.”
HTC has also loaded the camera with some special shooting features. The SmartShot function captures five photos at once, then automatically creates a single shot that includes all “clear faces with smiles and no blinking,” according to the release. And the PerfectPics feature lets users organize their photos by quality, so the “best” photos are reorganized to appear first in the album.
Other technical specs include a 4.3-inch qHD screen and a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S3 processor. The Amaze 4G will also support NFC, and comes loaded with Android 2.3.4. Of course, the HTC Sense bloatware will also come pre-installed, along with some other software, like T-Mobile TV.
The Amaze 4G will be available for pre-order starting on October 10. T-Mobile stores across the US will begin carrying the device on October 12. The handset will cost $259.99, with the signing of a two-year contract, after a $50 mail-in rebate.
