Chinese manufacturer Zopo to introduce phone with a 32-megapixel camera

zopoWhether or not you agree that the megapixels on your phone’s camera are important, it’s impossible to argue that most people do want a phone capable of taking stellar photos. Our phones do tend to be most people’s primary camera, after all. So each manufacturer continually does what it can to one-up the competition. But most are still struggling to really beef up the megapixel number. Even the iPhone, a leader in the phone industry, only boasts an 8-megapixel camera.

But according to Tegra, Zopo, a China-based manufacturing company, is upping the ante, and getting ready to release a new Nvidia Tegra 3 (a processor) smartphone with a rear-facing camera packing 32 megapixels. It’s pretty impressive, and could help users step up their Instagram shots.

While it’s far more than you can find on most phones, this still isn’t the best camera there is to find in the mobile industry. Nokia’s PureView camera has a whopping 41-megapixel resolution.

We don’t know too much about the phone, but we do know that it will sport a 5.7-inch display, a 1.6GHz quad core Nvidia Tegra 3 CPU, and “3D stereo gaming,” whatever that means. The device’s front-facing phone pales in comparison to the rear, at just 5 megapixel.

The phone is expected to be released in May, but as far as we know, it will only be available in China, so don’t get too excited about the prospect of eventually purchasing it. Even though the phone won’t likely make it to this market, once consumers get wind that new phones with better cameras exist, perhaps it’ll make more phone manufacturers focus on increasing the quality on their new models.

We also want to point out that, regardless of how important a phone’s camera is to you, it’s not the only thing to consider. You should also factor in the processor, amount of storage, and battery life, among other things.

The guards then return the phones without telling users about the app.
