Get a sneak peek at Daredevil season 2, fresh from NYC Comic Con

Netflix shared a new Daredevil season 2 teaser at New York Comic Con, and thankfully, attendees aren’t the only ones who get to see it. The short preview is only 30 seconds, but it manages to intrigue, as well as give fans a first (if ever so brief) look at the Punisher (played by Jon Bernthal) and Elektra (Elodie Yung).

After pushing through a minute and a half of recap and hype from season 1, the new teaser shows Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) in a church pew with Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) and Froggy (Elden Henson). “Why do I still feel guilty?” we hear Matt ask Father Lantom (Peter McRobbie). “Guilt can be a good thing,” the priest responds. “It’s the soul’s call to action, the indication that your work is not yet finished.”

As Father Lantom advises, we’re given short bursts from the season to come, and it’s enough to get any Daredevil fan’s adrenaline spiking. We see Elektra covering part of her face, Claire (Rosario Dawson) at the hospital, the police investigating a crime scene at what appears to be the same hospital, and the Punisher armed and striding through the hallways of — you guessed it — the hospital. The screen cuts to black, and someone (presumably the Punisher) says, “bang!” (Yes, the teaser literally ends with a bang.)

Unfortunately for fans, we still have a long wait before Daredevil returns for season 2. It won’t be back until 2016, but in the meantime, there will be an entire season of Jessica Jones to watch starting Nov. 20. The two series are part of a four-pack of Marvel shows for Netflix that will ultimately unite to form the cross-over series The Defenders.

App Store tweeted the Daredevil season 2 preview, which starts around the 1:35 mark below after the season 1 “sizzle reel.”

After a three-year hiatus, San Diego Comic-Con has returned to the San Diego Convention center. And so far, the hottest item isn't an exclusive action figure or statue. It's the wristband that indicates whether fans have been vaccinated or tested for COVID-19. Even pre-pandemic, the large Comic-Con crowds made it difficult to get into the convention center. But this year, the longest lines are for the COVID wristbands, and it created havoc as fans tried to make their way inside.

There's no way to talk about this year's Comic-Con without addressing COVID. It's the reason why everyone has to wear a mask this year, even if you aren't cosplaying. The pandemic kept Comic-Con dormant in 2020 and 2021, and there are signs that not everyone is ready for the show to go back to what it used to be.

In his relatively short existence in live-action media, Daredevil has endured more than the usual dodgy interpretations that befall a character no one quite knows what to do with. There's his supporting role in Bill Bixby's The Trial of the Incredible Hulk -- and the less said about that TV movie, the better.  The 2003 Ben Affleck-led Daredevil fared no better, falling victim to the early-2000s blunder of ignoring comic continuity in favor of Matrix-inspired "coolness." The 2017 Netflix series broke the curse, with superb acting, writing, and directing that honored the longtime Marvel Comics hero and shed a light on a street-level version of the MCU. Yet despite its critical acclaim, the streamer cut the series short after three seasons due to Disney's streaming competitor on the horizon. Fans were devastated by the cancelation, and things looked bleak for this acclaimed iteration of the character's future.

Fast forward three more years and both Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio have reprised their iconic portrayals of the Man Without Fear and the Kingpin of Crime, respectively, in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Hawkeye. After this second round of embrace for this corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, more seems to be in the cards for Daredevil and company in the years ahead. To celebrate Daredevil being born again and completing its migration from Netflix to Disney+, these are 10 of the best episodes from the TV series.
10. Cut Man -- Season 1, Episode 2
One of the most famous things Daredevil has become known for is its gripping one-take hallway fight scenes. There's one in each of the three seasons, and they're all exceptional showcases in martial arts choreography and cinematography. In general, the series does an excellent job at conveying the incredibly high stakes the titular hero and supporting cast face in such an intimately scoped setting.

New York Comic Con will go online-only this October

New York Comic Con will follow the example set by San Diego Comic-Con International and go completely virtual for the 2020 version of the annual pop culture convention.

Originally scheduled to happen in October at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan, New York Comic Con will now encompass a series of live and pre-recorded panel events on the convention's YouTube channel. The virtual New York Comic Con will begin October 8 and run through October 11.
