How to watch Hamilton online: Stream the musical now

The time has finally come for us all to be in the room where it happens. Well, kind of. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s wildly popular musical, Hamilton, is finally available for streaming online. The film is a live stage production recording of the iconic musical written by and starring Miranda himself. It revolves around founding father Alexander Hamilton and the trials and tribulations of his life and political career as the U.S. Treasury Secretary. The show skyrocketed to global success upon hitting Broadway in 2015. Its catchy show tunes — many of which are inspired by hip hop and R&B music — became instant classics and tickets to the musical have remained a hot commodity since its debut. Luckily, the new global streaming access remedies its initially exclusive nature. Here’s how to watch Hamilton online.

Directed By: Thomas Kail
Cast: Lin-Manuel Miranda, Phillipa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr., Renée Elise Goldsberry, Christopher Jackson, Daveed Diggs
Runtime: 160 minutes

How To Watch Hamilton Online In The U.S.

Disney+ exclusively streams Hamilton online. Although the platform does not currently offer a free trial, the subscription fee is merely $7 per month and provides access to Hamilton on top of the service’s entire streaming library. Or, you could choose to make a one-time payment for the annual subscription plan, which would amount to $70 total for a whole year of access to Disney+ and popular titles like Hamilton. As a third option, Disney+ also offers the so-called Disney+ Bundle, which sees both ESPN+ and Hulu added to the mix for only $13 per month all in. This subscription is clearly more geared towards families or those who want access to a wide range of content. No matter which you choose, Hamilton is now streamable on all three of their subscription plan options.

Walt Disney Studios won the intense bidding war for Hamilton‘s distribution rights back in February for $75 million. Originally, they planned a theatrical release of the film on October 15, 2021, but ultimately decided to move it up to a digital release on Disney+ in July due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. The live productions featured in the movie were filmed in June 2016 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York City with almost the entire original Broadway cast.

Whether or not they were able to see the production in person, longtime fans of the musical have been itching to watch the much-anticipated movie version of Hamilton. Disney+ has finally brought their long wait to an end, giving them the chance to tune in from the comfort of their own homes. Surely, they’ll be back to stream it many times over.
