Amazon’s ‘Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan’ just got its first teaser trailer

Amazon premieres trailer for 'Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan' series at NY Comic Con

Jack Ryan - Teaser Trailer [HD] | Amazon Video
He might have two first names, but that never stopped Jack Ryan from taking on insurmountable odds and saving the world, over and over again.

The latest version of the seemingly invincible secret agent will be portrayed by John Krasinski (The Office) in Amazon’s upcoming series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. The first teaser trailer for the series debuted in October 2017 during New York Comic Con, offering a glimpse of how the latest iteration of the character stacks up against his predecessors.

This time around, Jack Ryan finds himself thrust into a global investigation of a rising terrorist group that might be planning an attack on the U.S.

Krasinski’s Jack Ryan will be the fifth on-screen iteration of the character and the first on television. The role was previously filled by Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October), Harrison Ford (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger), Ben Affleck (The Sum of All Fears), and Chris Pine (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) The character has also appeared in various licensed video games. Clancy passed away in 2013 at the age of 66.

The series represents the culmination of several years’ effort to bring Clancy’s legendary lead character to the small screen. Michael Bay is on board as a lead producer alongside Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form; Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Graham Roland are also executive producers, in addition to having written the pilot based on a story they developed together. Clancy film veteran Mace Neufeld and Lindsey Springer are also attached as producers, along with several people from Skydance.

On Tuesday, September 19, we received the first teaser trailer, which revealed … well, nothing, really.

The 30-second teaser — fittingly titled $10 Bill — opened on a young girl penning a red smiley face on a $10 bill before using the bill to pay a street vendor. The trailer follows the bill as it changes hands via drug deal and as it makes its way through a (presumably) illegal operation, giving us a glimpse inside a cocaine packing plant and some sort of cave where men are counting stacks upon stacks of cash.

Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan will be available in 2018, exclusively through Amazon Prime Video.

Update: We added the first teaser trailer for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, released during New York Comic Con.

The 50 best movies on Netflix right now (April 2024)
Staz Nair and Djimon Hounsou in Rebel Moon: – Part Two The Scargiver.

It's always a bit of an adventure to try and stay ahead of the most popular movies on Netflix, especially when films like the unheralded 2019 action thriller Anna leap to the very top of the list. Because after spending a lot of money on Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, Netflix would obviously like to see that original film land in the top spot. Time will tell if the second half of Rebel Moon outperforms the first part. but action fans are really going to enjoy their movie nights this weekend.

Fortunately, Netflix isn't reliant on any single genre. The streamer has a vast library of original movies across all genres, including comedies, dramas, thrillers, romantic comedies, horror, and more. And we've put together the standout titles in our roundup of the best movies on Netflix right now.

The 50 best shows on Netflix in April 2024
Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer in Killing Eve.

Unlike some of its streaming rivals, Netflix has so far been able to weather the slowdown in production from last year's Hollywood strikes. There have still been big Netflix originals like 3 Body Problem, Avatar: The Last Airbender, The Gentlemen, and Ripley. But Netflix has also maintained momentum with key additions from other networks and studios. There's no better example of that this week than the two latest shows to debut on Netflix: Killing Eve and Black Sails.

Killing Eve was a BBC America original spy thriller that was already a hit on cable, and is finding an even bigger audience as it climbs the list of the most popular shows on Netflix. Starz's TV-MA pirate series Black Sails isn't far behind. And while Black Sails only had modest ratings on Starz, it may also reach a far wider audience than ever before.
