What’s happened: Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve has revealed that he will begin looking for a new actor to play Agent 007 in the 26th James Bond movie sometime next year.

  • Deadline revealed that the casting process for Villeneuve’s James Bond film will begin in 2026, after the director completes production of Dune: Part Three.
  • Villeneuve and his collaborators are supposedly looking for a “fresh face” to portray Agent 007 in this upcoming spy movie.

Why is this important: Deadline’s report has narrowed down the list of possible actors who will play Bond in Villeneuve’s movie.

  • Villeneuve and his team are reportedly looking for “an unknown” British actor, possibly in their late 20s or early 30s, to play the new Bond.
  • Villeneuve’s statement makes it very unlikely that an older or well-known A-list actor will play the new James Bond.
  • James Bond 26 will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios, which acquired creative control of the franchise in February 2025.

Why should I care? James Bond is one of the most popular characters in cinema history, so many eyes will be on Villeneuve as he decides who will portray the character next.

  • Since Villeneuve has achieved extraordinary acclaim for directing PrisonersSicarioBlade Runner 2049, and his two Dune movies, his James Bond film will be an especially hyped blockbuster event.
  • Villeneuve’s casting plans for the film could allow a relatively unknown actor to achieve greater success as the new James Bond, similar to Daniel Craig when he was cast in Casino Royale.

OK, what’s next? It will be months before more news about the next James Bond is revealed.

  • Dune: Part Three is reportedly scheduled to film in Abu Dhabi later in 2025, so more casting news for Villeneuve’s film may emerge in 2026 once principal photography concludes.
  • Deadline claims Villeneuve’s James Bond film is expected to premiere in 2028, with filming set to commence in 2027.

Scary Movie 6 returned after more than a decade, and the gamble paid off at the box office. The sixth installment debuted to $55 million domestically, the best opening weekend in the series' history, and went on to gross over $215 million worldwide as of late June.

Ahead of the movie's June 5 theatrical release, Wayans Bros. Entertainment launched a website called Subservient Ghostface, where you type a command and watch the masked killer carry it out on screen. It's a clever campaign that borrows directly from Burger King's famous Subservient Chicken stunt from 2004, swapping the chicken suit for the horror icon Ghostface from Scream.

Comcast's breakup sounds like an alarm bell for Peacock, Xfinity, and the monthly internet bill. At the service level, the answer is calmer. Current customers shouldn't expect subscriptions, billing, or broadband plans to change while the company works through the split.

NBC News reports that Comcast plans to spin NBCUniversal and Sky into a separate public company, moving Peacock, Universal, NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, theme parks, and Sky away from the broadband and wireless business. The separation is expected to take about a year.
