What’s new on Amazon Prime Video in May 2025

Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively share a toast in Another Simple Favor.
Amazon MGM Studios

Amazon Prime Video is really beefing up its sports coverage in May, with events including WNBA games, New York Yankee games, NASCAR, a Premiere Boxing Champions card, and women’s soccer. That’s great news if you’re into sports, but the prime attraction for Prime Video remains the movies and the TV shows.

To start May off on a good note, Amazon’s Another Simple Favor skipped theaters and debuted directly on Prime Video. At the end of the month, the new thriller series The Better Sister — which stars Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks — will drop all of its season 1 episodes on May 29. A pair of lighthearted original documentaries, The Sexiest Man in Winnipeg and Octopus!, are also debuting this month. A third documentary, Earnhardt, is a more earnest look back at the life of NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt.

The best new shows to stream on Netflix, Hulu, Max (HBO), and more
A man and woman stand next to each other.

Two different Netflix shows lead our list of recommendations this week. Arnold Schwarzenegger returns for a new season of his action comedy series, Fubar. Meanwhile, one of Netflix's most popular shows, Ginny & Georgia, returns after an explosive season 2 finale. Finally, Stick will replace the void in your heart left by Ted Lasso.
Keep reading for more show recommendations. We update this list every Friday to keep you up to date on the most binge-worthy new additions.
When you're done here, check out the best new movies to stream this week, as well as the best shows on Netflix, the best shows on Hulu, the best new shows on Max, the best shows on Amazon Prime Video, and the best shows on Disney+.

Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Max, Disney+, Paramount+, Peacock, and Apple TV+ all have one thing in common: They're more expensive than they used to be. We can live with higher rates as long as new shows keep coming, but it's always a good idea to consider signing up for the ad-supported tiers, which are worth it if you can sit through a few commercials.

Amazon Prime Video’s AI dubbing could placate cinephiles while angering voice actors
The Amazon Prime Video app icon on Roku.

Amazon Prime Video plans to use AI to dub foreign language shows and movies into English and Latin American Spanish. The company has begun a pilot program that uses "AI-aided" dubbing on 12 licensed movies and series, including titles such as El Cid: La Leyenda, Mi Mamá Lora, and Long Lost.

Amazon says the pilot uses a hybrid approach to dubbing "in which localization professionals collaborate with AI to ensure quality control," and made it clear that it will only use its AI-aided process on content that doesn't already have dubbing support.

New Andor season 2 video teases monumental Star Wars event
A group of Star Wars characters stare on the poster in Andor.

The road to rebellion intensifies in Andor season 2.
Disney released a special look at Andor season 2, which features behind-the-scenes access to the upcoming episodes and interviews with the cast and crew. However, the most noteworthy moment occurs when the video cuts to Ghorman and spotlights a crowd of protestors chanting in unison against Imperial forces.

In Star Wars canon, Ghorman is the site of the Ghorman Massacre. In 2 BBY, Imperial forces open fire and slaughter a group of peaceful protestors on Ghorman. The harrowing events cause Senator Mon Mothma of Chandrila to resign from the Senate and condemn Emperor Sheev Palpatine. Mothma's resignation and subsequent speech serve as a rallying cry for freedom and a launching point for the Rebel Alliance.
