What’s new on Netflix and what’s leaving in April 2024

Andrew Scott in Ripley.
Netflix

In a way, Netflix is a victim of its own success. In addition to successfully launching 3 Body Problem and The Gentlemen in March, Netflix also had a hit with Damsel, a fantasy film starring Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown. But because Netflix is the No. 1 streamer and wants to stay on top, it can’t rest on its laurels in April.

That’s one of the reasons why Netflix is kicking off April with Ripley, which features Sherlock‘s Andrew Scott as Tom Ripley, the antihero from the 1999 thriller The Talented Mr. Ripley. Among the other originals coming this month are an animated update of the ’70s sitcom Good Times, DC’s Dead Boy Detectives, and Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver.

Keep reading for our complete roundup of everything new on Netflix in April 2024 and everything that’s leaving at the end of the month. Our picks for the month are in bold.

Amazon Prime Video is a treasure trove of movies and TV shows. While some require an add-on subscription to a service like Paramount+ or AMC+, others are available as part of your Amazon Prime subscription. Keep in mind that now you need to pay a small fee on top of that to get access ad-free. But either way, the movies that come with that base subscription are available to you at any time. That is, until they’re gone.

Movies come and go on Amazon, so you’ll want to keep track of expiring titles. There are five movies leaving Amazon Prime Video in April that you’ll want to watch before they go. They’re all fabulous films that range from the 1980s up to the 2010s and feature A-list talent. Check these out before they are removed from the service before the end of the month.

A woman holds her camera in Anna.

At movie theaters nationwide this weekend, the action and horror genres will be well served with the simultaneous debuts of Guy Ritchie's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare and the vampire ballerina movie Abigail. The king of those streamers, Netflix, always has something for everyone. And  Digital Trends has crafted a selection of three underrated movies currently streaming on Netflix that are worth your time and attention this weekend.
