Vudu, which recently upgraded its Android app for 1080p viewing, has been making video quality a priority. Today’s announcement is what the company calls “the first step in Vudu’s ultra high-definition experience,” also known as “Vudu UHD.” Though the films are currently exclusive to Roku 4, the company has plans to make them available on additional 4K-enabled devices over the coming months.
Vudu’s dozen 4K movies target various demographics and encompass a range of genres, but action flicks are especially prominent. The list includes San Andreas, Man of Steel, both of the recent Sherlock Holmes movies, Magic Mike XXL, The Lego Movie, and more (full list and pricing below). To rent or buy them, users can now find them through the Vudu channel on Roku 4 devices. You’ll have to have 4K television to enjoy the enhanced viewing experience, and if your speakers are up to snuff, you’ll get improved sound as well.
