What happened? Netflix has released a three-minute video previewing Stranger Things season 5.

  • The footage teases the fifth and final season of the hit sci-fi series.
  • The featurette includes interviews with most of the cast, who revisit key moments in the series and tease what’s to come.
  • According to the Duffer Brothers, Stranger Things season 5 is ultimately about seeing these characters together one last time.

Why is it important? Stranger Things season 5 is arguably the most anticipated show of 2025.

  • “This is the biggest season we’ve ever had, in terms of action, in terms of visual effects, and in terms of story,” Ross Duffer says in the video.
  • According to Millie Bobby Brown, season 5 is more of an “adventure and a mission.” Expect action and a lot of it.
  • Caleb McLaughlin believes fans will be “truly satisfied” with the ending.

Why should I care? Stranger Things is ending after a 10-year journey.

  • Stranger Things season 1 premiered in July 2016 with little fanfare and promotion. Through strong reviews and positive word of mouth, the show became a massive hit on Netflix.
  • Season 5 is the biggest in terms of size, scale, and scope. The cinematic nature of the season, which took about one year to film, is one of the leading reasons for the three-year hiatus since the show last aired.
  • Stranger Things season 4 is Netflix’s third-most popular English TV show ever. Because of the anticipation for the finale, Season 5 has a strong chance at topping Netflix’s most popular TV show list.

Okay, what’s next? Stranger Things will be split into three parts later this year on Netflix.

  • Volume 1 (episodes 1-4) on November 26, volume 2 (episodes 5-7) on December 25, and volume 3 (episode 8) on December 31.
  • Netflix will release an official trailer sometime in the coming weeks.

Disney is about to give fan edits something rare: official permission. A new agreement with TikTok will let creators use characters, scenes, and other assets from hundreds of Disney movies and television series in their own short-form videos. The available catalog will span Disney’s enormous collection of brands, including Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and FX.

The partnership will begin as a US pilot in the coming months, with plans to expand into additional markets. Disney and TikTok have yet to reveal which creators will receive access first or exactly which films, shows, and characters will be available.
