Will Arnett is The Dark Knight in the first trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie

The LEGO Batman Movie - Batcave Teaser Trailer [HD]
The live-action versions of DC Comics’ Dark Knight and Man of Steel will be fighting it out on the big screen this weekend in Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but their animated incarnations have been enjoying more lighthearted adventures in the animated LEGO movie-verse in recent years. The latest installment of LEGO’s superhero adventures puts Batman front and center in his own feature, and Warner Bros. Pictures released the first trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie this week.

Portraying DC’s Dark Knight in the 2017 film is Arrested Development actor Will Arnett, who provided the voice of Batman in the critically acclaimed 2014 animated feature The LEGO Movie — and the new trailer offers a great indication of why he’s right at home wearing Batman’s cape and cowl.

Along with Arnett as Batman, The LEGO Batman Movie features Arnett’s fellow Arrested Development cast member Michael Cera as “The Boy Wonder,” Robin, as well as Daredevil and Sin City actress Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, Oscar-nominated Harry Potter franchise actor Ralph Fiennes as Alfred Pennyworth, singer Mariah Carey as Gotham’s mayor, and The Hangover franchise actor Zach Galifianakis as The Joker.

Details regarding the plot of The LEGO Batman Movie are scarce at this point, but the same was true of The LEGO Movie in the lead-up to its release. The latter film earned more than $257.7 million in U.S. theaters and $469.1 million worldwide. The LEGO Movie currently holds an overwhelmingly positive, 96-percent “Fresh” rating from critics on review aggregator RottenTomatoes.com.

Robot Chicken and Moral Orel series director Chris McKay helms The LEGO Batman Movie, based on a script by Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter creator Seth Grahame-Smith. The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller are producing the film along with series producer Dan Lin.

The LEGO Batman Movie is scheduled to hit theaters February 10, 2017.

How to watch all the Batman movies in order
Batman pointing one of his gadgets at someone in Batman Returns

For just over eight decades, Batman has been the dominant superhero at the box office. Just four years after his debut, the Caped Crusader headlined a Batman serial in 1943, with a sequel serial, Batman and Robin, following in 1949. However, Batman didn't get his own full movie until 1966, when Adam West and Burt Ward reprised their roles as Batman and Robin from the Batman TV series.

Following that film, there was a 23-year gap between Batman movies. But with few exceptions since then, Batman has had a regular presence at the box office. Since 1989, there have been 11 Batman adventures on the big screen, and that doesn't even count the other movies he's appeared in or the various direct-to-video films, which are even more numerous. For this list, we're going to tell you how you can watch all of the Batman movies in order, so you can cultivate your own Bat-marathon in support of Batman's 85th anniversary this year.
